Does anyone else have a borderline pathological obsession with bbc's the office.

You know the phrase softly softly catchy monkey? …I could catch a monkey - if I was starving I could. I'd make poison darts out of the poison off deadly frogs. One milligram of that poison can kill a monkey. Or a man. Prick yourself, you'll be dead within a day. Or longer. Different frogs, different times.

I caught one episode on BBCAmerica, the one where the dude has a shoulder holster for his cell phone. Goddamn hilarious. I've considered buying the DVDs, but British comedy has always been sort of hit-or-miss with me.

Plus, I'm strongly against buying TV episodes that I can watch for free, in theory. That being said, I already own all seasons of Family Guy, Samurai Jack, Invader Zim, Futurama, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

I never really got into "The Office"

I just didn't think it was that funny. I thought it was over-rated.

Good stuff. The other day in class we had a completely unprepared and uninformative guest speaker and the whole time I'm watching him all I could think was how much he acted like the boss on The Office.

I like how my office obsession has progressed through phases. I immediately thought brent was hilarious. then gareth. then it was just tim's facial expressions that really killed me. now i've reached the point where i realize that keith is the best part of the show. i can't keep it together watching the scene where brent tries to survey him.

I also like how there are scenes in the show that are beyond laughter, like brent trying to get the audience at his motivational speech to laugh. all you can really do is shake your head and say wow.

Everyone I work with loves and raves about this show -- now people on SG are too. I'm going to take that as a sign to watch it one of these days.

yes at the christmas party and not to spoil it but Brent spends his redundancy on trying to become a pop star. You get to see his music video. Hilarious. I won t say what song he covers but imagine an 80's power ballad!!!

Its set 2 years after the last episode

yeah i just bought it and watched it, unexpectedly dramatic. I liked the new pregnant woman tim sat by. Brent's agent was pretty great too.

I've seen the first series, and I really liked it. I love the way you can project people that you know onto the characters. My boss used to do the "Walk this way" and then do a 'funny' walk, so annoying.

the funniest line in the entire series is when that one nebbish woman in the office, who never, ever says anything, says 'i like blacks'. i can't remember what the context of the line was off the top of my head, but i remember choking on my beer when i heard it

I just saw a stand up routine by Ricky Gervais (david brent) and it was pretty damn funny. Not quite up to par with The Office humor though. As much as I love The Office I think it would be so much funnier if I got some of the suttle jokes about english culture that doesnt mean shit to us americans. Either way its probably the best tv show I've seen in a long time.

Ricky Gervais has done a couple of stand up DVD's too one is called Animals and the other Politics.

I guess the British sense of humour can be a little different to the USA, but if you get a chance to see a series called Bo Selecta...that is weird funny!!!

yea me too. i always heard it was so funny and i expected to love it.... i finally watched an episode, it had it's moments but all in all i wasn't super-impressed. maybe there was just too much hype? maybe it was a not so good episode? maybe i was just having a bad day? i have some more episodes so i will give it another shot.... i hate to be disappointed again though!
