When the theatrical version of The Chronicles of Riddick was released this past summer it was considered a failure and another nail in the coffin of Vin Diesel's action movie career. But today Universal Studios Home Video has released the Unrated Director's Cut of The Chronicles of Riddick on DVD. It adds 15 minutes of footage back into the film mostly of a mystical character named Shirah, giving Riddick knowledge, a lot more violence and amazing extras such as Vin himself showing us around Riddick's...

I agree, awesome actor able to play a wide range of things but pigeon holed into action films. he excels at everything he does from his early days to now. I consider him to be miles ahead of any action actor and most other actors today and pretty damm cool too. Plus he plays D&D, how much cooler that that can you get in this day and age of coked up celebrities and drunken antics of most of todays supposed superstars. Give me a chance to work with him and i'd be consider my stunt career a success.

I just wish he'd taken the opening and talked about his D&D game more. How's that half-drow vampire hunter going, Vin?

I totally agree. Ive always liked Vin, I think he's a good actor, even if some of his movies arent veiwed as masterpieces by the main media. Pitch Black is one of my favorite movies ever. smile

2 more riddick films??? the humanity! frown

he's quite verbose for someone who made xXx. although he does speak only in generic industry soundbites it seems. you get no impression of who he really is in that interview.

Vin Diesel sucks, he is an egomaniac in my opinion, the only role i ever liked him was in Saving Private Ryan, and that is when he gets shot by the sniper.

Vin is a smart and funny guy who can actually tunn in a good performance once in a while. He's a likeable guy, he just needs better roles. Good interview! smile

P.S. I, along with 3 of my friends saw Pitch Black in the theater! wink

all actors have their moments of greatness and badness. i wont comment on the actors themselves because they all try (usually).

pitch black was a good movie. my only problem with the chronicles of riddick was that it could have been the chronicles of anybody. the only reason it seems like they used riddick was that they had some background on him already and were able to shave 30 minutes out of the movie tryin to explain who he was.

they coulda made it the chronicles of rambo, or the chronicles of james bond and had just about the same results. frown

Pitch Black is one of those movies that when I flip thru the vast sea of DVD's I have, I can always put that movie in and watch it and never get bored with it. I feel that The Chronicles of Riddick is going to be the same way.
People are so dumb when it comes to type casting people and giving them such a hard time for it, he is a great actor if you don't include such movies as XXX… from what I've heard, but shit, I'd do a few dumb movies if my ass was getting paid!

Don't knock the guy, Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick are two great movies, people are so blind.

And yeah, NEVER listen to reviews, I mean shit, have your own opinion first!

I can only tolerate Vin Diesel in small doses. He's best suited in a supporting role like The Fast and The Furious or Knockaround Guys.

i believe that i've only seen one vin diesel movie. that being "saving private ryan." i think he's a very good actor. my opinion on him stems soley from his appearance on conan. i loved him. i liked seeing the real him, and how he wasn't affraid to be himself. he's made some movies that i really don't care to see, but i like him now. i've been meaning to see "pitch black," and hope to soon. i wish he'd make some more non-action type movies before he gets even more type-cast.

also, reviewers suck. somehow i've found that i rarely agree with them. it used to be that i enjoyed every movie i saw. now i have a hard time making it through half of one unless it really intrigues me. two movies that got really horrible reviews that i love: little nicky and saving silverman(director's cut). i'll give you this, both of these movies are really dumb. but i think both are really funny, especially on subsequent viewings. i'm not afraid to laugh at myself.

another thing i've noticed: so many different types of people can agree on movies, but not on music. it's weird

I loved Pitch Black and thoroughly enjoyed Chronicles of Riddick (I'm sure I'll upgrade it to love after it's settled in my mind a little more). I'm a sucker for movies that aren't afraid to kill off the characters that you really hope will survive.

As for Vin, he rules too. Like most other here, I wish he would get some more serious roles. But still, it's fun to watch him in some action flicks every now and then.
