if you're one of the 3 people who haven't read 'the da vinci code' in the last 12 months, then move on

it was announced today that tom hanks will be playing robert langdon in next year's cinematic adaptation of 'the da vinci code', which will be directed by ron howard.

laaaaaaaaame. but then again, the book was also kind of laaaaaaaaame.

i liked the book, i thought it was good. I read angels and demons before the da vinci code was even thought of, I thought it was very very good.

Both da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons are fun reads, da Vinci Code a little more so I think. You could easily read it in a day.

Wow, one of the most bland books of the past 5 years is turned into a movie starring one of the most bland actors of our generation.

wow, thats going to suck...and to think I was looking forward to that when I heard it was being made into a movie. I had heard rumors of Harrison Ford playing Robet Langdon and I think that would have been a great cast, but not Tom Hanks(I also don't like Ron Howard movies).

Tom Hanks blows.

Seriously, could this guy just start directing or producing and leave the acting to people with less annoying voices? And bad faces?

I thought they already made that piece of shit, or it sounds just as preposterous as that NIck Cage movie anyway.

harrison ford is thought too much of an 'action' actor to hold the role. the guy was a bookish, attractive in his own way, quiet kind of guy. i think tom hanks would fit the role but yeah movies based on books dont seem to turn out well for the most part. itd have to have a huge budget

dammit. i loved the book but i sort of hate tom hanks.

Harrison Ford definetly would have been the obvious choice. In the book Dan Brown even described Langdon as Harrison Ford in a dorky tweed jacket. That's sort of how i thought of him throughout the book as a result.

Now THAT is an example of perfect casting (at least as far as Depp is concerned) in a movie that was a pretty awful adaptaition of a great book "The Club Dumas" had so much potential -- better in many ways than "The DaVinci Code."

Is Tom Hanks the new thing to hate on to prove your indie cred? Would Jon Heder be a better choice?
