i like Trader Joes a lot. Prices are good and the Pad Thai they sell is awesome. I usually go to Whole Foods though, just because I can walk there.

I am in LOVE with Trader Joe's, but the closest one is just over an hour away. My roommate and I make trips there every so often.

I've seen them but I didn't really know what they were. Is it just another retail store like Target or Fred Meyer?

More like a supermarket, I think limited to the west coast. They get lots of imports and good food, oftentimes for a lot less money than at a supermarket, despite the considerably higher quality. (There are also items that are quite expensive, but still...) They make some good frozen microwave burritos even, which I didn't think was actually possible.

I actually count the ability to shop at Trader Joe's as a not inconsiderable perk of living here.

You are so wrong my friend. It's like the best grocery/specialty foods store on the planet. We should so have a double date there!

Spread out quite a bit now. There are quite a few in Michigan, a few in Maryland, a few in Virginia, some other places.

Trader Joe's is so fantastic, I keep waiting to find out their dirty little secret. Most of their food is organic and/or natural, delicious, and even cheaper than their normal grocery store counterparts. I love their chicken sausages, pasta, wines, cheese, soups, cereals, and pretty much anything else I've tried.

It just seems too good to be true. I know I'm going to find out they enslave 6-year-old Latvian children or participate in the sex-slave industry or have workers chained in basements or deal smack. It's just that good.

We actually do have a dirty little secret, but it's not that little. We are owned by Germans. Have been for a little while now. Joe sold out as is living large in Pasadena (if that's possible.)

Derivation, I knew there was a reason I liked you...

From the time I first heard people talking about it, until the time I saw my actual first store, I thought people were saying "Traitor Joe's," you know, sort of like the "Anti-Sam Adams." The truth turned out to be way boring, although the store turned out to be a good one.
