William Hammond survived the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He also survived the last sixty years. Unfortunately, he did not survive the Veteran’s Day parade that honored his service.

Hammond, of Abington, Mass., was accidentally run over during a parade Thursday in Whitman, Mass. by a van owned by the local Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter and driven by a close friend of his, according to Boston's WBZ radio station.

My heart goes out to his family and to his close friend who was driving the van.

What's sad is that I wouldn't even feel bad about laughing at that except that his family members were in the car and his friend was driving. That's pretty fucking shitty.
