I was just thinking....I posted about someone in my journal who's not a member of the site. Likely she doesn't even know about the site...but I couldn't help but wonder if non-members you may post about ever read your journal.

I've had people I know in real life mention shit I put in my journal, without ever mentioning the web-site to them. They found it by accident (something to do with my Favourite Bands on my profile) and recognised me. There's always a chance someone'll read it, I s'pose.

Anyone can read a public profile, but your profile picture is visible only to members.

yeah,I cant keep my mouth shut about anything so I have to keep my journal a private one, a mere click of a box after updating ensures a lot less potential agro!

I noticed the other day (although it's probably been there for ages) that you can mark a journal entry 'private entry for sg members only'.Though I can't tell if you like or dislike the idea of outsiders reading it. I think it's a funny idea because it seems that so much of what we post in our journals is often site-related jokes and things, a lot of it would seem really strange and random to someone who was not on the site. smile

Yea, sometimes I wonder as well... it's bad enough with members snooping. Last thing I want to worry about are non-members diggin through my stuff.

Oh my, I just logged out to see what things looked like to non-members. Boards with no avatars look very strange and probably confuse the hell out of people because it is so common to reference avatars casually while posting. (so if I make a reference to Cash's giant ball, it would seem very random.) wink

I think the only two people I know in real life who read my journal are also members of the site.

Yeah.
Someone previously not on the site found me through my journal, and now he's a member of the site.

A friend of mine asked me the other night if i was still sick.
I hadn;t talked to her in about a month.
She just stumbled across my journal while looking for me online to try to remember what shop I work at.

I just put my journal on members only so non-members can't read it. A friend of mine came to look at my journal and was disappointed because he couldn't read it.

I sometimes post about non-members, usually in rants but never mentioned by name. I'm sure they could figure out who's who. Which is why I always check the members only box. I've never posted anything so sensitive I'd be worried about people reading. I'm not entirely stupid wink

That does happen. I just heard of a girl whose father is checking on her by checking her journal. He Googled her screen name or something.

i do this too.

fyi everyone:
if you click "members only journal" when you're writing an entry, outsiders can't see it.

also, you can go back and edit old journal entries and make them members only as well.
