My dear, you need the Neti Pot! I have been using mine for a year and a half, and I have had one cold that lasted one day. I have also deftly avoided mono, and every flu that's come my way, including two that my fiance had.

I'm a huge believer in using Zinc. Whever I feel like I'm getting a cold I get some Zinc cough drops & they work wonders. Cuts a cold's time in half!

Only problem, the cough drops taste terrible, but it's better than being sick.

Hope you're feeling better!

fresh ginger root grated into a glass of tomato juice or V8... use as much ginger as you can stand....repeat.... just seemed to help me with my last cold... (in addition to the echinacea, vitamin c etc...)

Airborne is a tad expensive, but I swear it works better than anything I've ever tried before.

Last time I got a cold, i started taking triple the amount of Vitamin C requested. It took a bit, but it helps. Make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids as well. smile

Feel better!

I've had good results snorting warm saline too but I dont use the NetiPot. Not knockng it but I started with a bulb syringe. I'd mix the saline in a small tumbler. I started skipping steps and just pured the solution into my palm and snorted it. Now I usually just use warm water when my sinuses are a problem.

I still do occasionally use the bulb and mix some saline when things are bad.

Good luck! Feel better soon!

the Germans invented this stuff called Jagermeister, it cures everything.biggrin
what my great aunt used to give me , to help me sleep at least, is make a cup of herbal tea, add a table spoon of honey and a double shot of Irish Mist. puts you out like a light. don't know if it helped with the cold, but i was out for 8 hours, at least.

I don't use NetiPot, but I might want to give it a try... I do use one of the saline sprays you can get at the drugstore, but even that is a bit too much liquid up the nose sometimes.

"Jagermeister" is german for 'drink a liter of this and when you wake up, in a week to 10 days, your cold will be gone.' (loosely translated)

I use it every morning. I love it, it's not scary, and your house-mate or the like will have a great time staring at your butt.

I don't have a remedy but a hot toddy is very good before yougo to sleep.

My mix follows, just the ingredient into a cup

1 - 2 teaspoons honey
Lemon Juice
Top up with hot water, leaving room for a small measure of wiskey.

A variation is to add Vitamin C powder. 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon.

This helps me to sleep and rest is the best cure.
