I'm neither a pig nor a goat eating anything that I can shove in my piehole. It seems a bit condescending. I don't know what word you could replace it with, but only biologists and Vegans use it.

It's a bit offensive, imo.

omnivore

n 1: a person who eats all kinds of foods 2: an animal that feeds on both animal and vegetable substances

What, exactly, is the problem? "All kinds of foods" does not imply paint chips and dust bunnies.

Yes, I am offended. Really. As much as it seems that anyone who doesn't honour the 'life cycle' is deemed akin to Idi Amin, yes...

When people ask if anyone eats meat or if they are vegitarian or what have you, he word 'omnivore' rarely comes up in common parlance...

Why aren't Vegans Herbavores? or the like... Vegan has a mark of speciality to it, Omnivore is like saying someone has so little care for life or their body that they are willing to slaughter the pig they shove into their mouths.

The only reason I mention this is that it's on the dating profile. When you go to the hospital and they ask you about your diet, nobody asks you if you are an 'omnivore'.

I hardly think the word was ever intended NOT to be offensive.

I think I will choose, Killing Machine.

....ps ^^ a few up, yes I've read the dictionary too. Why not go up to the next person you see and say, "Hey, how is it going Homo Sapien?" see what kind of look you get.

*** special admin/mod note: I have no problem with Vegans, I just don't care for the word Omnivore. ***

That's the convsersational spirit! The thing is, I DONT mindlessly consume. I don't eat candy or sweets, so hopefully I wont get diabetes, I don't eat processed foods, I don't eat fast food, I don't eat gummi worms...

I'm neither a vegan nor a biologists and I call folks omnivores. I often use it as an epithet, too. Basically I started using it when I realized calling people carnivores was inaccurate...

You friggin' omnivore! mad

Bah. Omnivore seems nice and sterile, as well as accomodating to any imaginable combination of meat/nonmeat diets. Far more accurate a description of a diet than say, vegetarian. I've heard people that include small amounts if fish in their diets still called vegetarian. What the fuck?
