well, if they wanted to make it "realistic" they should have displayed priests molesting alter boys, abortion doctors getting killed, medical clinics gettingn blown up and jimmy swaggart (because he's just flat out scary). christianity should take a close look at itself before judging the world.

What a great way to endorse our culture of fear...I'm all for haunted houses, but this house is only haunted by the narrow minds that put it on...I hear next year they are gonna put statistics on black-on-white crime and immigration on their website. Then they are going to enact gang rape with a bunch of black males and a 14 year old white girl. And after that they have a scene where good wholesome white folks have to walk through teams of mexican construction workers to get to the unemployment office. But why stop there, why not take it back a couple hundred years and lets start burning independent thinking men women as heretics and witches. And then the Spanish Inquisition! Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! Nobody!
I have had it up to here religion. Over the centuries how many people have people killed in the name of one god or another. And we are still doing it. I'm waiting for the haunted house portraying the Trail of Tears and Japanese internment camps...ect.

they did something to that effect here-- one of the local baptist churches arranged "hell house" which had exhibits of abortion clinics, gay marriage, etc.. it was disgusting.

Why are most Christians a bunch of Looneys! I can accept and even find good things in their religion, but once something like this happens I take it all back. I'm sick of wacko fucktards like these insulting everyone else who is a "non-believer" with all their intolerance and fascist "morality"! And they even insult the few good christians out there who aren't imbeciles. I live next door to a Nun, and even she was giving out candy to trick or treaters tonight, not whining about how "evil" it all is.

Fun = Evil

This is pretty common now. Many evangelical groups, particularly Pentecostal, are putting these on.

i'd heard about something like this last year. where a christian organization was running a "haunted house" but really they made you essentially sign up for their congregation, and if you refused they pretty much damned and wished death upon you.

About a year ago they ran a piece on Hell House on W5 ( A canadian news magazine show) They showed essentially what people get with these, it's a series of vignettes designed for shock value ( like I'm sure statistics about teen suicide don't have many blwoing their brains out because their parents are fighting in the other room) and at the end of the entire debacle, the kids who go to these things are shown the sides of hell and heaven and all the characters who did the right thing are on the heaven side, and all the others are on the hell side (which their idea of what makes someone worthy is pretty skewed ... these things are essentially the modern equivalent of medieval passion and morality plays. Here are some links that kind of show the mentality behind these people:
http://www.thetruthforyouth.com/standard/main.htm
(The things they say about sex, like how HIV can get through a condom could explain why such a holy state like texas has such a problem with teen pregnancy- why bother using a condom, your pastor told you they don't do anything!- and I didn't know that the church still had a hate-on for rock music)

http://objective.jesussave.us/kidz.html
tons of fucked up stuff on here (some of its funny as hell though, like the Atheist goat) but the creation science project winners being "Women were designed for housework" shouldn't make these people any friends in the folks who live in this century

i actually went to hollywood hell house this past weekend, and it was fucking hysterical. it is a sardonic portrayal of the christian version, and the amazing part about it is that none of it is made up. all of the scripts and stage directions are taken directly from the kit sold by a pastor named keenan roberts. (the earliest hell house was created by our good friend, reverend jerry falwell in the late 70's).

in addition to the lovely abortion, rape, and murder scenes, there's also one that i find particularly hilarious that warns of the dangers of the occult. the girl (aka the sinner) began her interest seemingly innocently enough by reading the 'goosebumps' books. and before she knew it she was reading harry potter and playing magic. gasp! and now here she is offering up a human sacrifice to the devil. you've been warned.

toward the end we were led through hell where we walked past all kinds of damned souls. my favorite of which was a guy dressed up as an orthodox jew, who was being ground up in a meat grinder by a guy dressed as a pig. all the while he shouted, 'i thought jesus was just a man. i thought jesus was just a man." HA!

then we were lead to the devil (played by richard belzer) and finally to jesus who always gets the last word. finally we were invited by a youth group leader to join them for "punch, donut holes and jesus!" we were led into another room where there was a live band (and of course punch, donut holes and jesus because christians don't lie). most visitors just watched and laughed as the band played christian hoedown music and the youth groupers danced enthusiastically. buy my girl and i were feeling the spirit of the lord so we danced along with them. we hung out and made friends with the youth groupers who encouraged us to not be gay. (and these are actors in hollywood, so of course many of them were actually gay). they even sung us a song about how girls don't have to touch their girl friends and boys don't have to touch their boy friends. by the time we left we had played pin the sin on jesus and sandwiched jesus and freaked him on the dance floor. so i think we're saved. mary, (all the girls were all named mary), one of the 'reformed' lesbian youth groupers promised to pray for us that night. in fact, she assured us she would definitely be thinking of us in bed tonight. hehe.

ah, it's nice to live in a place in the country where people realize who the freaks actually are.
