On Halloween night I hope that people didn’t do something dumb like go to a party or even worse trick or treating but instead you went to see the movie SAW and shit your pants. It’s most disturbing movie coming out of America this year and one of the best balls out horror films I’ve seen since The Fly. Co-writer and director James Wan has crafted a beautiful executed horror film with twists that no one will guess. I got a chance to talk with James a few days before SAW’s opening weekend.

Check...

I loved this movie when I saw it Saturday. It's cool to hear from the director. Now I have to keep an eye on this "Shh" movie. tongue

We creamed Sky Captain! biggrin

Cool interview. Cool guy. Cool movie.

I think that Mr. Wan has potential to make GREAT films in the future. Saw was a little rough and unbelievable at times, but it was executed very well.

Oddly enough, I did go see Saw on Halloween... My opinion about the movie: It could be a hell of a lot better when he gets more experience making movies. The storyline was great, and the ending was superb (which is uncommon these days in a movie). The main thing that got me, was that the acting was pretty poor by almost all actors except Danny Glover.

But for the budget they spent on this movie, they did a damn good job. I think he will end up being a bigger end director in the future.

My thoughts almost exactly. I was a little disappointed in some of the dialogue, too. But still it was an enjoyable movie.

Yea.. I was really impressed at how good of a job they did with visualizations and setup completely with the budget.

Come on guys all horror movies have bad acting. That movie was fucking amazing, Wan never let you look away. Intense and promising to be a classic horror movie. This movie was terrifying and the twists in it, were unbelieveable. Halloween was a superb night to catch SAW. That's where I was.

Didn't love it, didn't hate it. It was predictable. I felt like I'd seen it before. It seemed to me like everything in the movie had been done before, and better in some other film.

I saw the movie on opening night. It was a packed theatre. I almost left the movie midway because it was so bad we were laughing at the parts that were supposed to be scary or dramatic. The acting was so bad by the main guy the whole theater was laughing when he cut his foot off and was telling the other guy he'd be back for him after he shot him and had no foot. The best part was the end twist, but I almost didn't stick around to see it. Sorry Wan... the story was a good idea, but the actors sucked hard. It really took me away from the movie because i was laughing at how bad the acting was. Good luck with future scary flicks though.

Oh now thats not right - what about The Thing, The Exorcist, Alien, Exorcist 3 for that matter, The Shining, los of things. Horror is just like any other genre - it has good and bad.

I saw Saw in a theatre by myself with one other guy there. I thought it rocked hard. It is the first movie in years that made me want to look away from the screen. And for that I commend it.

Acting wise I duno - do you know how you would act if all that shit happened to you? I certainly don't...

I agree with the storyline being great and the ending superb. Better choices in actors could have made the movie better, but I think it was made on a small budget.

i watched it last week with some friends and although the first twenty minutes were pretty rivetting and the concept of the whole thing was pretty cool, the acting was so bad it's like an hour and a half of my life i can never get back. i was actually upset that i could have been doing laundry during that time had i been at home.
