The Libertines have had a tough time during the past couple of years. After breaking out with their first song, What a Waster, they quickly descended into a Behind the Music-like hell when their frontman Pete Doherty became a heavy drug addict, nearly causing the breakup of the band.

But thats all behind them now, and theyre releasing their latest self-titled album and its their best one yet. I got a chance to talk with Libertines drummer Gary Powell.

playing the libertines, always make me boogie, in that 'too cool for school' kinda way. i fucking love 'cant stop me now' tis my favourite song of recent times.

my fav. songs are; ofcourse "can't stand me now" "don't be shy", and the very nice "what katie did"

if you like this album, you should try "razorlight - up all night"

The Libertines are the best British band since the Smiths...IMHO the best band anywhere since the Smiths...and they are possibly better than The Smiths. I defy anyone not to go into a delerium of raucous joy on hearing "I Get Along".

Hey I just saw the Libertines a week or 2 ago at the 9:30 club in DC. They kicked ass. The best thing about the show was that they had half the crowd up on stage with them. There show was stink'in great. I hope they come back to town... there sound is original and inspiring....and there dead sexy.
