teaser for 'the ring 2' hits the net

i posted this in the film club as well, but i thought that you all would be interested in this.

even though 'the ring' could have used A) an R rating, B) a massive rewrite and C) anybody other than martin henderson in it, it is my favorite american horror movie of the last several years.

i should mention that 'the ring 2' is being directed by hideo nakata, the director of the original 'ringu'.

That trailer has so much water splashing around in it that it looks like it could be for The Day After Tomorrow.
I'll definitely see this when it comes out, regardless of hype or reviews. I thought the first one was really good.

speaking of american remakes of japanese horror movies, i've heard that SMG's 'the grudge' is awful

I'm sure that it will be. I would like to believe it could be good, but I just don't think a big name actress can make a really scary movie. The preview looks like it borrows a lot from the ring and the exorcist.

What's Japanese, The Eye? Dude, not everyone with slanted eyes is Japanese. :lol:

And I thought The Eye was scarier than Ringu, personally. It's definitely more "creepy" than "scary", but Ringu just kind of made me giggle.

I don't really know much about it, but in the tv commercials there is a girl who looks like the girl from the ring and there is a part where she crawls down the stairs head first like the girl in the exorcist. I didn't see the original so I can't compare it to that.

The Eye was totally unscary, apart from that bit in the elevator.

The Ring (and its Japanese originator) were PANTS-SHITTINGLY TERRIFYING.

But maybe that's just me.

and if the grudge is awful that's because the original sucked ass, and putting sarah michelle gellar in a movie is not the way to improve it.

The Eye wasn't that scary, more creepy. Ringu scared the shit out of me and my sister when we saw it. If you like Japanese horror/thriller movies I recommend watching Audition. It's sort of slow in the beginning but, builds up to a great unexpected ending.

Holy shit The Ring still scares the pants off of me, the last thing I need is to see more of the same, I just know I'll run out of pants if I see it.
