This is the alternative I though of using for a less dramatic and more humorous effect - both came from Google images search.

I like things like the celebrity boxing in which totally untrained people hurt one another for our amusement.

I've never really gotton into the professional level stuff.

I was gonna say that we should can it, but after seeing that David Bowie picture I think I'm suddenly in favor of boxing.

I prefer amateur boxing (as I am an amateur boxer myself) but as far as professional boxing goes...some fights are great to watch but with all the fixes and poor judging it has all the credibility of figure skating

UFC and K-1 are generally more interesting to me, but boxing has it's merits. Currently, it's clearly in a state of disarray, but I've always loved watching the occasional big name bout. You probably won't catch me staying home for Friday Night Fights, but I'd definitely say that I like boxing.

I'm a reasonably big fan of professional boxing, but I also think it's one of those things that will eventually get phased out over the course of social development.

I like to watch fights. Boxing is much less entertaining. Unless it involves Tyson.

I like it. Used to box, but badly. I guess I used to be boxed.

Boxing is great...

The problem is that there is NO one boxing "league" like the NBA or NFL...
People tend to get turned off when there are 4 champions in each weight class.

It would be amazing if someone would come along and put the WBA, IBF, WBC, etc. under one umbrella, then make it so that boxers were ranked fairly, and the most deserving fighter got a fair shot at winning a title.

The sport of boxing is very pure, but the profession of boxing is for shit right now...although that Mayorga/Trinidad fight was fantastic.

A related note--Mike Tyson keeps pigeons (or a friend of his does) on my friends roof. We met him about a year ago...super nice and shy.

My sister was ranked #8 in the world as a light heavyweight. She has since retired after an injury during a title fight, a fight in which she was winning up until she suffered a popped blood vessel in her brain.

Professional boxing is definitely singing it's swan song. When Mike Tyson is still one of the biggest draws...it's time to explore other options. There used to be a time when the Heavyweight Champ was right on par with any other major sports icon. Now...I honestly can't tell you who the Champ is.

i was a big lennox lewis fan during his reign. that guy was so cocky, it was great (though, what boxer isn't). he always had the best quotes, aside from tyson. "at least he's not tall enough to reach my ear."

I prefer UFC and wrestling (yes, I know it's staged) to boxing, as those are visually interesting, anything could happen, but with boxing, you just have two guys punching eachother (but spending most of the time hugging), which I find really boring. I don't think boxing should be banned, I just don't watch it.
