i think it all boils down to what kind of person they are on the inside, regardless of their intelligence or lack thereof.

So what makes a person "who they are on the inside"? You might be referring to a person's general kindness or ability to be civil to others? How does one person learn to be kind, genuine, and understanding, while others learn to be callous, condescending, and arrogant? If their parents, peers, and other various societal role-models though childhood taught them through example that a callous and arrogant attitude is acceptable social behavior, how much blame can really be ascribed to how they turned out to be?

while the environment we are brought up in does have an impact on who we are as adults, people don't always repeat the ways they were raised. by "who they are on the inside" i am referring to the consideration and openmindedness each individual utilizes in a given situation.

The total pinhead who asks "where are the CDs?" when they're right in front of him, how did they become so stupid? Were they born that way? If so, when is it ever your fault for being born the way you are? People are born gay, and as a society we're learning we should accept homosexuality as a reality, and be respectful at all times of that diversity in who we are as individuals regarding sexual preference.

the total pinhead could've just had things on their mind. or they could've forgotten their glasses. a simple oversight doesn't necessarily make an individual "stupid." now had the person looked directly at the CDs and said "are these the CDs?" ... then you might have to wonder.

Why shouldn't it be the same for our diversity of intellect, knowledge, and grasp of common sense? People don't have a choice whether they're born stupid or smart. To have that functional brain chemistry that allows them to more consistently see the answer to the obvious question (ie: the CDs are right in front of you!).

If you're generally a nice person yourself who encounters a total stupid asshole who's on the borderline of totally pissing you off, what about reacting to them as if it's not their fault they're so dumb? Maybe show them a little kindness and understanding. Perhaps it's the stupid assholes of the world who are in the greatest need of being shown kindness and respect?

i believe respect is earned ... and given where it is received. the same with kindess. while certain situations alter the amount of both kindess and respect that is shown, if someone, intelligent or stupid, is constantly a berating, self-absorbed, callous individual, why should they be the recipient of kindess? just because they're stupid?

i've known some not quite bright individuals who at times will make a simple statement that really makes you stop and think. at other times, i've known some extremely intelligent individuals who've made statements that make you stop and think "where the fuck did that come from??"

i think some people are just "wired" differently in how they think .... that doesn't make them less intelligent, they just arrive at a thought by a different route.

depends on the person's attitude ... if they constatly make an effort to try to understand things or at least understand they aren't the brightest crayon in the box, then i say cut 'em some slack.

but if they're total pricks, who think knowledge isn't something worth striving for, or feel as though they're better people than those who are intelligent, then i say they can lick my ass crack.

i think it all boils down to what kind of person they are on the inside, regardless of their intelligence or lack thereof.

it ALSO depends on if she's driving or not tongue

Okay. So who did write hitchikers guide to the galaxy?

I'm a fan of the series and I was drawing a blank... but that's just becasue I'm half awake. Anyway, it was Douglas Adams.

As for stupidity.. I can live with it. If someone's not up to par intelligence wise that's one thing.. it's something completly different when they're deliberatly ignorant.

Here is the scenario:

I am at work. I am standing in front of three aisles of CDs. A customer approaches me and asks:

"Where are your CDs?"

I do not feel sorry for these people. I want them all dead.

OH MY GOD I worked in record shop and this was the most cringingly, butt-clenchingly annoying question. Usually people would say something like "Excuse me, where are your classical CDs" and I'd keep a straight face and say "They're just over here in the CLASSICAL section madam" Or "where do you keep your CD albums" Or "Do you work here?" No I just wear the uniform for fun mad
