I dunno, but apparently "Awesome Skool" only encompassed a very brief period during November of 2002.

Dunno. middle school is up to and including Oct. 03. I'd kind of like to enact a newer school group (sg junior high?) for Nov. '03-Feb. '04

I think Old Skool is technically anyone who joined before the first major site overhaul in June or July of 02.

Agreed. Join dates were not recorded then, so Old Skool isn't there to make these members seem cooler than everyone else, rather the staff simply has no idea when they got in.

I'm fairly certain that Middle Skool was started by the old heads who just missed the cutoff date for Old Skool.

I've always wondered if they will ever extend middle skool. I mean in 2 or 3 years, wouldn't all of us 2004 people be middle skool? Right now I am too "young" to be middle skool and too "old" to be old skool. I feel like Jan from the Brady Bunch!

None of the 'skools' will ever be extended. They're all more or less artificial (with the exception of Old Skool) and will disappear when people realise that this is a damn message board, and doesn't really need a caste system.

OLD SKOOL

OCT 06, 2004 07:27 PM

Just take note......I don't take the Old Skool tag too seriously...and anyone who does should be laughed at.....publicly.

Old Skool started out like any other group. It was started just like the Cars group, the Suicidegirls group, or the regional groups.

A handful of people who had been around the site since almost the beginning decided to start up a little group so we could chat about the good old days, and get all nostalgic for the days when gasoline was 50 cents a gallon.

I'm just speculating here...but the reason for the "old Skool" tag on the boards might come from the fact that most of the staff is comprised of people who'd been around the site since the beginning....hence, there's a lot of people who are either staff or original SGs who are members of the Old Skool group.

I hope that shed some light on....well....something.

If I'm not mistaken, Old Skool is placed on anyone who joined the site before the new site went up in June 2002. So Middle Skool would be July 2002 to October 2003, and "New Skool" would be anything after that.

Bah! I was a member years ago and am technically Old Skool but figured anyone that judges me by my join date, isn't worth talkin' to.

If I’m an asshole to enough people can I get my join date changed to “Cold Skool”?

Can I pay more and get it changed to “Gold Skool”? Because I’ll do it.

this is a long ass thread about nothing.... i am so glad I found it... maybe I should bookmark it so I can pontificate on 'old skool' and 'new skool' and 'after skool' and 'before skool' and the fact that I live 'near skool' while some may live 'at skool' and whether on not people 'go to skool'
