Anheuser-Busch is releasing a new drink, marketed for the club scene. Due to the growing popularity of Red Bull and other sweetened drinks, you can now order sweetened, caffienated beer.

Great. Something else for amateur douchebags that don't tip to ask me if we carry. As though Smirnoff Ice, Bacardi Silver, Dildo Dry, etc. weren't enough for all these fucking morons that would have been drinking Bartles & Jaymes 15 years ago.

Does life ALWAYS have to imitate art? I seem to recall this idea being an ongoing joke from The Drew Carey Show...

Yeah that was definitely on the Drew Carey show a long time ago. I'll probably try it, but i looks like it'll be too expensive to be my regular drink even if its good. That website says that 10 ounce cans of this stuff will cost more than 16 ounce cans of regular budweiser.

I'll stick to Crown Royal and Jolt if it want a caffenated durnk.

I'll stay with whiskey and blow. It's a lot less...ummmm...completely lame.

Well, it's hardly new. I mean, it's the exact same thing as Smirnoff Ice, etc. It's a sweetened "malt beverage." With a 6.6% alcohol content, it's too strong to be legally called beer, so it's "malt liquor." The major difference is just that it's caffeinated. It's marketed to young kids that don't like the taste of alcohol.

I'm sorry, malt liquors taste better than beer, and have more alcohol in them, so why do people always ridicule me for drinking them? I always get things like, "You're drinking smirnoff? You girl, have a real beer!" Fucking hate it.

Smirnoff isn't malt liquor. It's a "sweetened malt beverage." Malt liquor is just a made up term for beer that is legally too strong to be sold as "beer."

In Canada, true. Here in the states it varies, but 6.6 is too strong for all the states I've ever lived in, and that's a fair few. Shit, in Alabama the limit is 2.2%.

I have a can of "Mixxed up: beer & cola mix"(sic) which is 500 ml of 3.1% abv of beer (60%) and cola (40%)

It looks foul, so I'm probably never going to drink it.

6.6% isn't *that* strong for beer. Carlsberg Special Brew is 9%. these are all over 7%, some are 13%

6.6 is stronger than normal for beer stateside.

There are exceptions. Dogfish Head breweries "Immort Ale" is around 11% ABV.

I just see this as yet another blow to the idea of REAL bear. Kinda like beer that isn't actually bitter...

Just take your choice of beer and drop a couple twenty-five cent caffeine pills into it. No Doz does the trick - then it tastes the same, but has a nice little caffeinated jolt to it.

Part of the advantage of beer for me was always that if some asshole was drinking it next to me all night, eventually he became a little slower, more importantly easily beatable if he decided to move his asshole-ness over to me...

now I have to contend with hopped up drunkards.

hell SPARKS witch has caffine and turine has been out for more than 2 years( granted it is malt liqour, but fuck its still alcohol and caffine)
