That's both scary, and funny at the same damn time.

What brand are they? Who knows, might be somehow picking up a radio signal.

they're cheap little labtec speakers. i had them for ages in my last apartment, and they never gave me any hassle, but now i am in this new place, and it's doing it. it's strange; if i turn the volume up on the speakers, the sound of the broadcast doesn't get any louder

It's probably the wires. My old set used to pick up chat from CB radios. frown

No, you're computer probably IS haunted- this can be remedied by booting into a command prompt, and typing "C:\format c:".

Lemme know how that works.

When I put on my headphones, I get the Georgia Tech Radio station, WREK. This is no big surprise though, seeing as how the radio tower is 50' from my building. But yeah, speaker wire is pretty much a big antennae, and so it's entirely possible for them to pick up radio waves.

Umm.... You can move away from the radio tower?

I think new speakers might be a better option.

Try replacing the wires/cabling. AFAIK this is caused by improper shielding in combination with residential factors, so you might be able to eliminate the issue by buying ones that are better insulated.

I used to pick up NPR at one of my old places. Try waking up in the middle of the night in a new place, convinced someone is crouched in the corner of your bedroom mumbling incoherently. eeek

I moved the computer into the living room, to say the least.

That's about as bad as last week... I'm reading by candlelight at four in the morning when the TV suddenly turns itself on, full volume, and wouldn't turn off. Even the dog ran away scared.
