I have that DVD too, it sits right next to GI Joe the movie. I think I cried when Optimus died. Hell, if I watch it today, I may just cry again. I'm a total pussy when it comes to dying robots. I'm the same way when the batteries die in my CD player. Curled up in the fetal position, murmuring the words to, "I Was a Teenage Werewolf." 'sniff'
I'm pretty sure I crapped my pants when bumbelbee, or whoever it was said 'shit'. So now you know all of my secrets. I weap for dead electronics, and I'm incontinent. My parents died when I was 8, did you want to talk about that too?
and there's cursing in the regular version. there always was. it was a big deal that somebody said "shit" at the time. i think i nearly peed myself in the theatre.
Odds are the forced swear word was to guarantee the PG rating instead of a G rating. No humans died only big robots...so the censors probably slapped a G on it...and that's just not cool man. I'm not totally up on my movie rating history, but I think that Transformers: The Movie predates the PG13 rating, and going to see a G rated summer movie just isnt cool if youre 13.
Edit: PG-13 came into being on July 1, 1984...Transfomers was a 1986 movie...so a forced swear word to make is somewhat competive with PG-13 moves...amazing what one little word will do for your movie, isn't it?
its funny how everyone cares about the weird al song. what about ironhide he freaking died in it! such a sad scene. but anyway if you havent seen it watch it! and while your at it watch all the 98 episodes and while your at the watch scramble city.
