you know whats funny, people look at politicians and think they are wishy washy(flip floppers) for adhering to the polls!!!!!
these people are elected to represent the people!!!!!
they should be sensitive to what the people want
we dont live in a dictatorship
oh wait a minute ,we have, since the 2000 election!

lets wake up people and realize that we want elected officials who actually work for US,i mean we are the ones that pay them, they may as well be decent employees.
bush would have been fired from any other job for being "insubordinate" with how much he chooses to things his way,and HIS WAY only
hes a grown man,and hes a brat!
lets fire bush in november

ERNNNNNT WRONG

our system of democracy is set up the way it is because the founding fathers realized that mobs are stupid at times. our representatives are supposed to do what they think is in everyone's best interests, regardless of fads or trends. its checks and balances that prevents abuses of power.

Which is why I say we eliminate the popular vote for president and use the electoral college the way our forefathers meant us to. Right now we're half-assing it.

With a mandate from "the people", the system of checks and balances has been tipped too far in favor of the national executive branch and the office resembles a monarchy or dictatorship more and more with each election.

If this were the year to throw a protest vote, I'd say we should all agree on which two SGs to vote for. Between 50,000 of us, we might get enough votes in to start a newspaper article.

You would think that a black, female president woud herald a new era of liberal achievement. Unless it is Condoleeza Rice, who seems to have the sensitivity of a psycopath.

If it came to a competetion between a medusa and her to "out stare" each other, I would put my money on Rice.

She has a lvel of intelligence, competence and determination that few of us will ever reach, but some thing seems missing at a human level. Like many of the top level of the Bush administration she is part of the US Oil industry, so much so that she even had an oil tanker named after her.

Her stance on the environment is uncompromising, she wants oil and is not concerned with mamby pamby stuff like environmental damage or preserving natural beauty.

It's really sad to say... but I think that if anyone other than a straight, white, Christian, male were to somehow be voted into the presidency... at least now... that they would be at a serious risk for multiple assasination attempts. There's too many racist, sexist, homophobic, psychopaths out there who would be outraged over it.

I would love to see it happen in my lifetime... but due to the slime who run this country... and the slime in the general population... it probably won't. frown

Of the Bush administration, Colin Powell has my greatest respect. He gives me the impression of a fundamentally honest man, who has made compromises like that of a military man who puts himself behind his leader, even if he does not fully agree with him.

Sadly, Powell was concerned of assination attempts and that stopped him trying for a presidential role.

I don't see how it would be much different. I wouldn't vote for someone simply because she was female. It would depend on her politics and whether or not I agreed with her, just like any other candidate.

Just thinking how we still havent had a female nor anyone thats non Caucasion ever elected. Whats holding that off?

I don't foresee any real differrence, however I could see some serious assassination attempts. Ditto for any non white president. Plenty of nutters in our society who would freak out at anything other than a white male...

Can't be arsed to read the whole thread... but do you mean change in the context of stereotypical female traits like "women are less violent" or "women or more loving" and other pseudo-intellectual garbage? I know that's sort of framing the debate, but sorry, I think thats bullshit because studies show that women who participate in the socio-political/economic climate of business and politics have predominantly 'male' traits like stress, competitive nature, et al..

The fact of the matter is that there are simply structural/institutional biases, subconscious and conscious, that slant ideology towards the favor of rich white christian males. And all this liberal feminist crap ignores that and favor of giving women their individual and sexual freedoms all the while ignoring the real structuralist boundaries. Why? Because it's simply easier than granting them their socio-political freedoms.

I mean, really, do you really think that if a woman were president we wouldn't have idiots making inane menstruation/PMS jokes? Conversely, if we convince people like Max16characters that PMS jokes aren't funny that we'd somehow stop the institutionalized fear of the 'pollutive' nature of menstrual blood?
