I don't think you can say if a candidate would be any better or worse simply by being a woman. It'd be cool and progressive, at least. Bonus points if she's a lesbian/minority/blind/parapalegic/muslim/woodland creature/ghost.

Undead Americans really get no representation in the government. Zombies wouldn't go on rampages if we'd just give them foodstamps.

I always remember having these talks in school.
I guess we wouldnt know the outcome till it actually happens. Which Im hoping. Men need a break from it cause they cant take the heatwink.Although the female might cry. Its a tough one.

I disagree with that, I think that women often have even more macho bull shit, as a reaction to the stereotype that they can not be tough. I think it really just depends on the person, not their gender. I can think of several female politicians who would have us in the same boat that we are in right now.

You might see a less supression of women's rights but apart from that I don't see it being any different.

Thatcher seemed plenty macho. She took the UK to war with Argentina; she persuaded bush (senior) to go into the first gulf war, she took away free milk for school children.

She was fucking evil.

I think that 200+ years of exclusively phalocentric government is quite enough. There's clearly something wrong with the existing system to the point that something needs to give. I don't know that woman would do a better or worse job than a man. Obviously that would depend on the person.
I'd welcome a woman as a candidate for president. We need to look at this argument as one of candidacy, though, not election. One may beget the other if, in fact, she makes a better connection with the american people. I'd be skeptical of her in the same ways I'm skeptical of any career poilitician, but I agree that there should be a better female representation in the elections for higher offices.
Of course, I'd welcome a better representation of any and all candidates who challenge this county's history of leadership by affluent, white, straight, christain men. None of these things are a bad in and of themselves, when viewed as a whole, it presents a very disturbing history.

Dammit, it wasn't even funny the first time it was made, and you could see the joke coming before you clicked the thread.

Anyway, nothing would change. Thinking that women are somehow different is naive, and besides, they have to jump through the same hoops as male politicians. Anyone who makes it to the point where they can be president is going to be some corrupt, deal-making asshole. It's not the sex that's causing it, it's the system.

I know one thing for sure...if a woman were president, people would still bitch & moan about the president.

You're fooling yourself if you think that a female president would be significantly better or worse than a male.

Anybody, regardless of gender, who rises to the level of a legitimate candidate for the President of the United States of America is beholden to party-line politics.

New Jersey had Christie Whitman as governor for a while. She did the textbook Republican Shuffle. Give her a Y chromosome and she'd have been the same crappy governor.

Oh wow. How original. PMS jokes. whatever whatever puke

I don't see how it would be much different. I wouldn't vote for someone simply because she was female. It would depend on her politics and whether or not I agreed with her, just like any other candidate.

...maybe our system of governance would gain a little more credibility.

I wouldn't trust any woman that could become president. Knowing how inhuman, lying, backstabbing, and corrupt you have to be in the first place to become president? And now add to that, having to convince the general public to elect someone from a segment of the population that hasn't been in that office since its inception? I would trust her even less than a comparable man in the office.

This is related to my belief that I don't trust anyone that actually wants to be president.

That, and not wanting to be in any club that would have me as a member.

well if she can get through all the bullshit hoops you have to jump through to get that far and be a realistic choice I think she would be just like the men.... Unless more people vote and are active I think any president we have will be a total assclown even if they are from female or are a one legged dog from south dakota....
