i want to get music from a cassette to my computer

please help me. i want them to be in mp3 formatt. i need to know what programs i need and how to hardwire the tape player into the computer. i have a feeling it is simple.

You need 2 things.

1) Some sort or recording software that will record from a microphone
2) A cable with headphone / microphone jacks at both end.

Plug the cable into the headphone socket on the cassette player and the other end into the mic socket on the computer. Open the software and hit record. Press play on the cassette player. Wait a while and you've recorded the music!

Only problem being it won't be of the greatest quality.

they'll also be .wavs... to encode them as mp3's use CDex (it's freeware) on the files you've recorded.
