to have a tiny little indentation on your tooth that kind of hurts if you poke it with a pin (because you're wondering what it is)? Or is that a cavity...? frown

I'm sure a dentist could tell you.... A lot of things hurt when you poke them with a pin.

Cavities suck gross things.

Sounds like a cavity to me, or at the very least some sort of crack in the enamel of your tooth...neither of which is particularly good.

I can't really afford to go to the dentist's and find out (though if it's a cavity, I guess I'll have to.)

I'm 23 and I've never had a cavity before--isn't that bizarre?

No. I thought it was, but when I picked at it with the pin it turned out to be a speck of something.

Doesn't sound good. I staved off cavities for many years until recently. Were you eating something whne this happened?

I have that on two molars. it's from grinding my teeth in my sleep. the dentist used to put sealant on them but it would always wear off. usually it doesn't bother me unless i eat a shitload of sour patch kids (or poke it with a pin I would assume). flouride helps.

No, I was brushing my teeth and looking at them really close in the mirror for some reason when I noticed the spot. It doesn't hurt unless I poke it with something. I don't think I've noticed any pain when eating or anything like that.

What happened to the speck you dislodged? I may be way too interested in this, but something sort of similar happened to me earlier. Hopefully you have some form of dental insurance?

Insurance? tongue I don't even have regular health insurance-- certainly not dental insurance. I don't think I've ever had dental insurance...

I don't think poking a cavity should actually hurt, unless it's all the way to the root. THAT sucks...

Mayhap we should get a save Ada's tooth fundraiser going? I hate to see someone in pain, especially someone I agree with so adamantly

I'm pretty sure that's a cavity. I had the same problem in several places in my mouth, and a dentist finally indentified them and filled them in.

It's definitely some weakness in the enamel. I've had that problem and (back when I had insurance) my dentist said that the enamel had not properly formed on most of my molars. He put a sealent on and told me to always, always brush really well back there. So it *might* not be a cavity. I'd just be really nice to that area and start trying to save some $ so you can see the dentist if it gets worse.

Nah... I'm 23 and never had a cavity either. Then again, my mom was a dental hygenist and a complete stickler for the whole "'brushing and flossing after every meal" thing. Perhaps for our good dental hygene, we deserve plaques.

Hahaha... get it... plaque... ok I'm done.

I didn't have a cavity on my adult teeth until about two years ago (I'm 28 now).
