Oh, and why the fuck is it than whenever a car in a movie goes down an embankment of any decent slope, it has to explode at the bottom?

[Edited on Sep 25, 2004 by MarginWalker2002]

not always true: sometimes they blow up before they get to the bottom.

(damn, i'll learn how to type on of these days)

I was just watching a horrible movie called master minds today...Patrick Stewart and some guy I think was on boy meets world...Full of Hacting...This kid hacks in to get the print of scream 2 three days before it's released...he's using a modem and quickly going through these digitally rendered hallways and then when he ends up "Getting in" it takes a single evening to download the whole movie...on a modem...in 1998...

Another good one is whenever two people are seeing a therapist, at one point in the discussion, one of them is always asked to leave, ussualy after the other has made a "Break Through"

Also, if there is a brit in the movie they have to make either a Monty Python Reference, or a James Bond Reference (If all else fails, then a simple reference to the Queen will suffice)

I can't think of any examples of that happening. Lots of movies come to mind where that doesn't happen. What am I missin'?

Other entries in the Ebert Movie Glossary:

the infamous Talking Killer Syndrome: when the bad guy has you where he wants you and uses the opportunity to tell you his entire plan while giving you time to think of an escape.

Has anyone ever come close to Skeletor or Cobra Commander in this arena? They should give seminars on this.

black characters in horror movies acting very urban or very white washed.

OOOOO

I REMEMBER!!!

Movies from Tv shows.... They create a plot thats supposingly soo much bigger then the tv series.

Or they create a movie villain that is WAYYY MORE POWERFUL then the regular tv villain. A new threat for the tv heroes!!!! I HATE THAT!!! Just keep the regular villain we're use to and bump it up a notch!!!

Yeah, like the whole Cobra-La/Golobulus turn of events in GI Joe, the movie. That was a bombshell!

it's mostly in crappy disney movies anyway, don't worry about it.

I also tend to lump television into the same category with movie cliches

The hooker with the heart of gold.

The [mentally disabled] person who teaches everyone else mystical truths about life, understanding and compassion.

Sorry, sometimes hookers are rotten dumbass junkies, and sometimes the mentally disabled do little but wear velcro shoes and drool on themselves.

I hate that no matter how many times Robocop gets deactivated, he always has enough bad memories to give himself a full charge.

Maybe I missed it, but a big just occurred to me.

Classes usually end 30 seconds after a scene begins, and it catches the teacher and class completely off-guard, mid sentence, no one itching to leave yet.
