I'd go with the swift punch.
As long as it looks nice, I don't see a problem.

I suppose that would depend on where you live, sir

Whatever looks good. The rules change all the time. For example, according to GQ it's okay to wear brown shoes with a gray suit now, something unheard of in the past.

It also depends on the shirt you're wearing. A lot of people will try to tell you to wear brown shoes with blue and black is still what should be worn. Therefore, if you're wearing khakis (sp?) with a navy sweater, I would rather go black.

It's complicated. You could either 1) get a personal stylist or 2) wear whatever the hell looks good and fuck everybody else.

If your "trendy" friend were truly trendy, he or she would have known that you shouldn't be wearing khakis outside of the office anyway! wink

1. anyone who follows fashion "rules" is unfashionable.
2. the only true rule is to wear what looks awesome.

3. black shoes with khaki doesn't look awesome.

it all boils down to the belt, if you were wearing a black belt than black shoes are good, if a brown belt than brown shoes.

Lastly if you are wearing pants with grease stains, kick this guy i the nuts and go ride away on your mototcycle

I find it a bit odd that your pal thought to give you fashion advice? Next time you see them comment on their soft furnishings.

Black shoes with khaki pants are fine provided you're wearing a black belt or black shirt or something black to tie it all together. Khaki pants in general are pretty lame unless they're for working in a corporate office or Starbucks, though. I mean, I have a pair, but you wouldn't catch me wearing them anywhere but the office.

Remember that scene in "Boogie Nights" where Don Cheadle is obsessing over his new cowboy look at the party? Luis Guzman's character, while wearing this attrocious unbuttoned knit shirt, proudly exclaims, "Wear what you dig."
If I know of the pants you speak of, they are more of a butterscotch work pant - not really khaki.
Keep rockin' the Dickies with black shoes and give your judgemental friend another cock punching.

lol...well they are baggy Dickies with grease stains from my motorcycle, so I'm OK with wearing them away from the "office"...which is the name of a local bar, so you can say, "honey, I'll be at the office late tonight" wink

In the college town where I grew up, there's a bar called the library. "Mom and Dad, I don't know why my grades aren't great- I was at the library every night!"

Where I live, there's a bar called The Bar. "Hey guys, let's go to...The Bar!" or "Yeah, meet me at...The Bar!" Ahahhaha...aheh...

...heh...eh...

...ummm, yeah, that's not clever at all...

Sort of confusing, come to think about it...
