Fox 2000 Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox Animation, and Bagdasarian Productions announced that Chipmunks Alvin, Simon, and Theodore will appear on the silver screen.

While Fox is still looking for a comedy writer, they hope to recruit a major actor to play the role of the chipmunks' father, Dave Seville.

"I am thrilled to join Fox in turning 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' into an event 'tentpole' picture," said Ross Bagdasarian, Jr. "'Alvin' has three generations of fans, who can expect an exciting new experience in the big-screen version. The movie will merge the celebrated history and tradition of our beloved characters with a new comic sensibility and edge. This is an exciting time for The Chipmunks and this movie adds wonderfully to that excitement."

I would love to see Bob Odenkirk do Dave Seville. But that's wishful thinking.

Didnt they already make an alvin and the chipmonks movie?

I think they had to race hot air ballons around the world against the chipettes. Some guy had them collecting dolls to prove they made it around the world, but he was actually using them to smuggle diamonds or something like that.

Either I don't have the requisite amount of terminology from "the biz" or I'm, in fact, just that childish, but hearing him talk about it being a "tentpole picture" cracked me up.

I hear they're consulting with Darren Aronofsky to get this "edge" to appeal to the slew of 20-somethings who were raised on the original TV show. Rumour has it is that Simon will actually be resorting to using some sort of stimulant to get him through those late-night cramming sessions. Whether it will be referred to in mainstream drug lingo or implied via a more kid-friendly addiction to "Nerds" (tipped off for the obvious product placement dollars it could bring in to finance the movie) is still unknown.

i did'nt actully make that quote the producer of the movie made that quote
