Due to the success of Resident Evil: Apocalypse, which took in $25.7 million over the weekend, the studios are already talking about a possible Resident Evil 3.

"I always thought of the 'Resident Evil' films as a trilogy," [producer Paul W. S.] Anderson told The Hollywood Reporter. "The first film was a prequel to the game world. The new movie intersects the film and game worlds. And the third movie will act as a follow-up to the games. It's a nice arc -- prehistory, in-game and then a sequel to the games."

Hooters more than make up for it...

The guy does have a point about it being a nice arc though. I would like to see how it plays out.

Do they not understand that it was a bad movie that's being universally panned by critics and audiences? Please, until they figure out that there are games like Grim Fandango and Monkey Island, just stop turning games into movies.

God bless you....I juist started replaying Grim Fandango tonight, and I couldnt agree more. Though the TV show Dead Like Me did basically steal the concept

A Monkey Island Movie would be so great! Only it would get blasted as a rip off of Pirates of the Carabean.

Naysayers love saying nay, but I loved both movies. Here's some advice for anyone going to see a zombie movie. YOU'RE GOING TO SEE A ZOMBIE MOVIE! Don't expect a deep storyline or great acting! There are only three things you should expect to see in ANY zombie movie: Zombies, Guns, Tits. Check Check and Check.

how does the second movie intersect the games nicely, if nemesis is hunting girls in the second movie it basically pisses on the third game.

Apparently they like making money, so far this one is on track to make more than the first. Go figure.

Liking zombies doesn't mean you have to have bad taste in films. If you need to see tits in a zombie film, then I feel really bad for you.

I love zombie films. A LOT. But I hated the first Resident Evil. I checked my watch, and didn't see hordes of zombies for 47 minutes. I wondered if the director had ever played Resident Evil.

Anyhow, wouldn't it be funny if Wes Anderson did the third one?

Oh, and re: tits in zombie movies. They're usually there, it's just a question of whether they're nice to look at or not. Zombie, re-make Dawn, RE, sure, Return series has both kinds, and I've always wondered what possesses effects guys to make naked female zombie constructs. Grody.

This film sucks!!!

It is a disgrace to the "Resident Evil" game....

I liked the first one cause it touch few things about the movie but could stand alone and be good. This couldnt stand up with a case of viagra.

Too much plot advance, not enough story development.

And yeah....The might make a sequel?

What the hell is that? It only leaves the end screaming give us more money next summer....

I only say that if you have never played the game you MIGHT like it but I doubt it...

I refused to go see this movie after looking at the offical website. Since when was Racoon City a space-age metropolis? Maybe they didn't play it that way in the actual film. But anyone who played RE 1 and 2 (the only two good games in the series... except maybe Mercenaries on RE 3) knows that Racoon City was supposed to be a fairly small western or midwestern town. Sort of a Joe Everycity.

Video game movies tend to get shitty reviews (and deservedly so) because directors insist on improving the source material.

Well I say the millions and millions of copies of RE games sold speak for themselves. Hollywood - quit fucking with already well-received stories and characters.

original dawn of the dead, absolute classic, well worked out characters, psychological tension and a good story.
RE is just one of those movies that doesn't care how shit it is from a quality point of view as long as it can woo young people with boobs and action, kinda like hellsing, the mummy and those kind of films.

Paul W.S. Anderson has never made one single movie, in my humble opinion, that was remotely decent or even halfway watchable. I doubt he will start anytime soon.

Anderson...seriously....is on my evil list right now.

I saw the movie with my sister and her fiancee Friday. While I will say it wasn't really that great, I enjoyed it much more than Van Helsing.

Then again, I wasn't expecting too much from it. But does it merit a sequel? Not really. And did I care about RE all that much? Not really. The first game, the remake, and Code Veronica are the only bearable games of that series. I prefer Eternal Darkness, Aliens vs Predator 2, or Silent Hill for my horror needs in video games.

In a side note...I am so worried about the Silent Hill movie. I love that series, but I am afraid they will completely destroy that one for me....
