Dude, you're just the kinda gullible person who makes up Oprah's target audience.
Really? I don't watch the show. The only reason I even knew about it was because my brother told me and I turned it on
one giant corporation (GM) who is introducing a new model went to another giant corpration (Oprah) and together they came up with a way for both of them to get tons of free publicity.
...
Neither Oprah, nor GM would have done this unless they were gonna make money from it. Period.
No shit, Sherlock. The business of any corporation is to make money. My point is, who cares if Harpo and GM made money on it? They could've made money any number of ways that didn't include helping out people. In this particular situation they did. Get over yourself and watch a fucking Disney movie once in a while.
They can sell their brand new cars for much more than that. G6's go for around $20,000 new, so I'm sure they'll be just fine.
DOES ANYONE ELSE WANT TO SHIT ON SOMEONE WHO GOES AND DOES A NICE THING PUBLICLY??? Fuck me, and I thought I was a cynic...reading through this thread has depressed the shit out of me.
Edit: Oh, I'm sorry, it's $28,500. God, it must suck to be them, stuck with a $7000 tax! That Oprah sure is a self-serving bitch for arranging for her audience to get cars and giving them absolutely no possible way to pay for their tax! They must hate her now because it would really suck to get minimally (if you were a totally unskilled salesperson) $13,000 profit for doing nothing!
Christ, can't people do anything nice these days without it being some ulterior motive? I mean, I'm not like a huge Ayn Rand fan, but people, all actions come down to selfishness, always. If you volunteer at a homeless shelter, you probably do it because it makes you feel good be helping someone. Maybe you're doing it because you're working off community service for a DUI or something. It doesn't fucking matter; people's lives are bettered because of it, and most of us just sit on our asses and do nothing to help people anyway. So don't go shitting on someone's motives, just celebrate the act because it's cool when people help people and move the fuck on with your life.
Speaking of which, I'm about to move the fuck on with my life.
