Lately, I find it hard to read books at all, so when I read one more than once it's sorta special.

I could probably read The Lord Of The Rings a gazillion times and still never tire of it. The book is so massive that I find myself catching things I've never noticed before. Like when the Fellowship gets totally wasted in the Mines of Moria and makes a secret pact to get married if they ever make it out alive.

Does anyone else remember that part?

I've read almost all of the Kurt Vonnegut books like, 3 times. They rule.

And I soooo don't remember that part.

More I'm not thinking of.

I lost track of how many times I've read the LOTR series after 14 or 15-- and that was a decade ago-- but I admit I still don't remember the part with the drunken marriage pact.

other than that, all the books on my favorites list I've read 3 or 4 times.

If I own a book I've read it at least five times and probably more. That's a pretty long list, though.

- David Copperfield (believe it or not)
- "Sketchbook: 1946-1949" by Max Frisch. Hard to find, but an eye-opening interpretation of the European psyche post-WWII.

But some honorable mentions - Jitterbug Perfume, Skinny Legs and All, The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy by Anne Rice, Watchers by Dean Koonzt (the best in brainless pure entertainment wonderfulness), Watership Down...um...lots lots more.

Yes, definitely any Tom Robbins. Also John Irving's books, Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (which is not at all literature, but soooooo funny), and anything by Sharyn McCrumb, who writes novels about Appalachian folk stories.

holy shit, yes. and then the goddamn "secret of nihm" movie scarred me for life.
but, yeah, my side of the mountain was THE book. it's all sentimental to me too cause when i was a kid i read my dad's copy which he'd had as a kid.
