A UK research team claims babies as young as one-day old know the difference between beautiful and ugly people.

It would seem that the basics of beauty are hard-wired into our brains from day one. I can see the next wave in Saturday night TV already - babies pairing people up with their dream dates. Ugly people need not apply, of course.

Shallow-ass babies. What's wrong with them?

The words 'bull' and, indeed 'shit' spring to mind. Have you ever looked through Hot or Not? Quite the hefty chunk of the girls that are considered "hot" by the general net users are the kind I wouldn't touch touch with a 10-foot pole, while wearing gloves. It's all down to personal preference, not some fucking stupid pre-defined notion of beauty.

Besides, true beauty lies within.

I read about a study similar to this in a psychology class. It's not really that the babies are drawn to more attractive faces, it seemed like they were drawn to more symmetrical faces. The two faces they used as definitions for symmetrical were (I believe) Denzel Washington and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos. They got the most positive reaction from the babies. I think Bill Clinton and Kate Moss got the least positive (and Kate Moss is a supermodel). The babies also showed the most affection and pleasure towards pictures of their mothers and fathers.
It's still subjective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It's interesting that women find other women less attractive when they are at their most fertile stage of the menstral cycle.

The hypothesis used to explain the result is that women may devalue other women as a strategy to win the best mate. So be sure to ask the famous question "mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all" at the right time of the month.

Learning new things about social biology always amazes and terrifies me.

It's neat to learn new facts, but un-neat to know there are additional reasons to why you're getting rejected floating around out there.

certain features, are subjective.. but the underlying thing that defines beauty is symmetry, whether or not a baby knows beauty when they see it is bullshit, but symmetry is the basis and everything else; ie. big nose, little nose, brown hair, blue eyes...all subjective.

you're not trying to say that is you are you? that kid looks nothing like you.
