Since almost every thread is guaranteed to have someone making a comment on spelling or grammar. I thought I would start a thread along the same lines as the Word Association thread. Every one bust out your dictionary and Post a word to be identified by the next person posting and use that word in a sentence. After solving previous post leave your chosen word to be identified.
I'm sure we can all benfit from this thread, including myself.

Example: Myodemia-Fatty degeneration of muscle.

My friend shaggy suffers from myodemia in his thigh.

Also feel free to make corrections when needed in previous post. I'm sure I made a couple of mistakes with this post.

effloresce

See I already had to edit the first draft.

I've been corrected.

Also if your chosen word has a origin in a specific area of study leave a hint.

Achiral-A term used to describe a molecule which, in a given configuration, is superimposible on its mirror image.

The vitreous humor in the posterior compartment of the eye is achiral. This allows light to stimulate the rods and cones located in the posterior of the eye.

vena cava, Hint-Medical

Also a science nerd.
New rule, if the words origin is from a specific area of study leave a hint.

Why is it I find the people who worry incessantly about spelling and grammar WAY funnier than the people who abuse them?

This thread is just a game like any other of the threads.
Like I said before I got the idea for this game because in almost every thread there's at least 1 comment about somo ones spelling or grammar. I myself have lots of ideas and stories but my fucking grammar sucks.

You all are looking to deep into the subject of this thread, don't take it to serious.

MisterSatan isn't there a SG seattle gathering at Bumbershoot that you should be attending. tongue

it's not that hard to use proper spelling and grammar if you have any intelligence whatsoever. down with the internet lowering the bar for intelligence.

FYI: Capitalization is as much a part of proper sentence structure as spelling and grammar rules.

I enjoy breaking these rules. But, if you think that intelligence can be measured through punctilio, you better keep an eye on that Shift key.

Glad to see someone read the my original post.
smile thank you Sorcha.

Lets try this again.

Game rules.

1. Post definition of the mystery word in previous post.
2. Use that word in a sentence.
3. If the definition of the mystery word would be found in a medical dictionary, computer dictionary, Biotech or life sciences dictionary etc. leave a hint.
Example: Renal {hint: anatomy,medical}.

Example- squal

Squalid- foul and run-down and repulsive, morally degraded.

The blocks between 1st and Pike and 4th and Pike are Squalid.

Please keep in mind this is all in the spirit of fun and games.
It's not a contest to find out who's the smartest.
We can all have fun and benefit from this thread. smile
Sometimes a word has more than one meaning and defintions change. Also different dictionaries have different definitions sometimes.
And if you don't think you can have fun or benefit from this thread, as the saying goes "If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all".
