i think you know the answer is no. if concern for public safety isn't enough to convince you think about the legal penalties for DUI.

seems like a bad idea to me. i was in downtown sac one night and some cocksucker on a motorcycle was stopped at a light. he sat there revving his engine and spinning his wheel and burning rubber etc etc until the light changed and then he took off. all over the street. i wonder if he's dead now... wouldn't doubt it.

basically, here is some reasoning. i drive (my car) like shit when i'm sober. i realize that i am probably not an above average driver. i would imagine i would be even worse on a bike. add some drink in there and it just sounds like a recipe for disaster. or a bleeding and disfigured torso. but maybe it's just me...

not cool, ever. even if one does not care about endangering his/her own life, there are other people out on the streets (myself included) that do not want their lives ended or altered by way of a drunken accident that could easily have been prevented.

I would say,"no"- for example.......
last night I fried a brand new set of tires off my truck- now when I say brand new I mean BRAND FUCKING NEW (installed yesterday afternoon)- and down to the steel belt 5 hours later. Not to mention that my power steering pump took a shit due to the donuts and jumping....
truth be told- a lot of beer makes your truck break easier. smile

First thing that goes out the window with a buzz is - judgement.
Wait until daylight. Remember the thread on the decapitated drinking buddy.
+ you'd be really bummed if you dumped it.

I don't drink beer so I dont' know how much it affects people. But I do know liquor and if I had a couple of shots and maybe a drink (at a bar so the drink would probably be weak) and hung out for a little while I would be fine to drive home. Well even before the hanging out for alittle while, that would just be to make sure.
I think most people have had a drink or two at a bar or restaurant, then drove. I couldn't imagine 3 beers affecting you that much but I wouldn't know. I do know I served more beer then that to people when I was a waiter and they left right after. The place never got sued by anybody so I assume they made it home fine.

But I don't think you should go joy riding after having a couple of drinks.

Get your own little alcohol tester. My boy got one about a year ago and it's been a huge help. People can think they are just fine to drive and actually be above the legal limit.

Having had a DUI experience in the past, I give you this "why not?"

- about $4000 in fines and costs
- a 7 year stain on your life
- 32 hours of classroom learnin' (Saturday mornings, 7am)
- 32 hours community service (Saturday mornings, 7am)
- Six months probation
- Three month license suspention
- Increased insurance rates

And that was the A.R.D. (Accelerated Rehabilitaion Something-That-Starts-With-D) Program for first timers.

Play some videogames or something because it just ain't worth it.

I guess if you were only slightly intoxicated and I caught you out riding your bike at high speeds i'd only slightly cripple you for it.

Drinking and driving is not fucking kosher no matter how many or how few you've kicked back.

If you don't have enough respect for your own life then please try to have it for those you might hurt and/or kill by acting like an ass.

If you really feel the need to endanger your life that badly then may I suggest a rousing game of Russian Roulet in the privacy of your own home.

i really want one of these for the bar i work in. no matter how easy it looks on those responsible drinking/ designated drivers ads, most people will not let you take their keys from them, even with threats of bodily harm and/or police intervention. maybe if they knew they were over the limit, it would help.

this is a bigger problem than it seems. i'd say 75% of the people who leave my bar (and this is a conservative figure) have no business driving. in my state, i'm not legally responsible if they get into a wreck, but i do feel morally responsible and wish there was more i could do to make sure people ger home safely.

on that note, i'm off to spend my next 8 hours getting folks drunk. skull puke skull

We aren't apathetic when it comes to the chance of someone dying. Read some other DUI and suicide threads from the past, and you'll see what I mean. People tend to put their snark aside when it comes to something more serious than blow jobs and kitten pictures.

Yeah, exactly what is the story there. Bike, speed, what were you wearing, etc.?

Well lets see, had a few, had a couple more, thought nothing of the five sierra nevada's that tasted soooo good- myself and three friends were headed home, but I guess they started to get bored by the speed limit and lack of excitement... we all took off faster and faster from each light (like we usually did) but the last light we stopped at was the one where I was going to show off..( me? never..) I shifted into 2nd gear pulled in the clutch pinned the throttle and dumped it- wheelie strait the fuck up and the bike started to get way too unstable. it was probably still saveable, but at the moment (corrected: fraction of a millisecond) I decided to bail- WHATEVER.........Stats: beers-5
gear-3rd
speed- approx 80
safety equiptment- levis, t-shirt, $350.00 shoei helmet
damages- totaled bike (fixed for 2800 bucks) nasty scars for the rest of my life, one seriously crazy assed memory of sliding on asphalt for 350 ft. @80mph
but I lived.... so I'm lucky smile by the way the bike: 1996 CBR900RR with all the trimmins!

If you are going to be drinking, even in the slightest, have a ride home. DO NOT DRIVE. I will say this in every drunk driving related thread for the rest of eternity. Don't do it.
