Who the hell wasn’t freaked out when Dave Mustaine got hurt and announced he was disbanding Megadeth? Just for the band to break up is bad enough but then to know that Mustaine might never have played music again was scary. But luckily Mustaine rebounded and is now releasing, The System has Failed, Megadeth’s final album even though none of the other guys from the band have contributed anything. That’s mostly because this was originally set to be his solo album but because of label obligations it’s...

I *heart* Dave Mustaine. I always have...Now I will have to drive around Phoenix and hunt him down. It's only a two hour drive from here....hmmmm...

Totally unrelated, but Alice Cooper does the night show on a radion station in Phoenix. That's cool and fucked up all at once. biggrin

You know, he really comes off like a total prick in that interview. I love his music (except for World Needs a Hero) but really don't like him at all.

Metallica "pussified" hmmm I'm not gonna go there... But to say Hell No!

On the Dave Mustaine he always comes across as a sore loser to me... HE fuct up and got kicked out of Metallica, HE fuct up his arm and nearly couldn't play again. HE always makes out its someone elses fault not HIS...

Check out "some kind of monster" to see Dave and Lars try to have a conversation... can anyone say whiney?

I've always liked ol' Dave (I've seen them 3 or 4 times live). He does sound a little sour grapey, but I always appreciate someone that isn't afraid of hurting someone's feelings (in the entertainment industry, anyway).

Plus, while I still think Countdown is their best CD (sorry Rust fans), the last one they did (World Needs a Hero?) has been growing on me more and more. And I've heard the single off this one (it's on their website) and it's pretty cool, too.

Go Deth!

Wow. Mustaine never fails to come off as a dick. That's not necessarily a bad thing - I respect people who have their opinions and don't back down. But between him and Lars it's no wonder I always liked Scott Ian more.

Man, it is always depressing to read an interview with one of your biggest heros from your youth and thinking "Man, what a washed up loser". He's always been a bit of an asshole, but this is just pathetic whining. Christ...it's been decades and he's still crying about being kicked out of Metallica? A large percentage of the models on this site weren't even born when that happened. He's also delusional if he thinks that Megadeth was all him...sorry, but MD45 reeked like my shit after loading up at Taco Bell and I suspect this new solo project that has Megadeth slapped on it won't be any better.

Everyone knows that Megadeth was Mustaine's brainchild. He not only wrote all the music and lyrics (there's only a handful that were written collectively as a band or with just Dave Ellefson), but either produced or co-produced all their albums...(although considering the majority of the songs sound a lot like Metallica, maybe "Hetfield and Ulrich" should be written beside Mustaine's name in the "All Songs written by" section of the album liner notes.)

But like Vanuslux said, it's sad when guys you looked up to go so far downhill. While I admire Mustaine for his music and honesty, I can't help but wonder why he doesn't just fade away into obscurity never to be heard from again like so many others who's time has passed them by.

Brainchild or not, I still don't buy that his bandmates had zero influence over his creative process. He might not give them any credit, but that doesn't mean they didn't have some influence on the music...especially Dave Ellefson who has been around a long time. Look at Metallica...Cliff Burton doesn't have hardly any songwriting credits in the albums he was on...but would you say his contribution to the band was negligable?

Well I will be picking up the new Megadeth album today. I hoping it is good but I am not expectiong to much.

Out of all the Megadeth albums, risk was definetly the worst. The world needs a hero wasnt great but it was good.

As for megadeth sounding alot like metallica. Well all I can say is of course they do. Dave has his name credited in metallica albums all the way up to Ride the Lightning. That is 3 albums in to metallica. He had a pretty good hand in metallica's sound early on. Even as I say that you can hear right away which songs on metallica albums are written by dave and which are not. He does have a different style of writting and playing guitar.

If you cant tell the difference between metallica and megadeth then you arent really listening.

Duuuude, he's almost as cocky as Ted Bundy. But he makes me laugh. I love Megadeth...I mean I love MUSTAINE. His stuff is always like about science and warfare, or military science, or politics or something. Awesome. And I didn't know he kicked James Hetfield's ASS. Was that on MTV's Celebrity Dethmatch?

People will forever be seperated into 2 distinct groups whether they like it or not: those who understand Dave Mustaine and Megadeth, and those who do not. For those who do not, there is plenty of other great music out there. Please enjoy accordingly.

YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You take great pride in never having lived up to anything
Lie, steal, cheat, and kill, a real bad guy
Your daddy is a wind, and your mommy is quite insane
From altar boy to sewer rat, you don't give a damn
Your sister's a junkie, get "it" anyway she can
Your brother's a gay singer in a stud leather band
Your girlfriend's got herpes to go with your help and aids
There ain't one person you know you ain't rip off yet

Look deep in the mirror, look deep into its eyes
Your face is replaced, a creature you despise
But I know what you're made of, it ain't much I'm afraid
I know you'll be lying until your dying day

Make up your stories, but truth's so hard to say
Brain is numb and your tongue will surely did you grave
Your mind is sickly from Alzheimer's disease
And decadence and debauchery killed your memories

You're a liar, liar, liar, everyone can see
Liar, liar, liar, it's all you'll ever be
Liar, liar, liar, it's what you mean to me
Liar, liar, liar ...

Start trouble, spread pain
Piss and venom in your veins
Talk nasty, breathe fire
Smell rotten you're liar
Sweat liquor, breathe snot
Eat garbage, spit blood
Diseased, health hazard
Scum bag, filthy bastard
Grease face, teeth decay
Hair matted, drunk all day
Abscessed, sunken veins
Rot gut, scrambled brain
Steal money, crash cars
Rob jewelry, hock guitars
Rot in hell, it's time you know
To your master, off you go

You're a liar
A fucking liar
Filthy liar
Liar
You fucking liar
Liar

++++++++++++++++++++

A cockroach in the concrete, courthouse tan and beady eyes
A slouch with fallen arches, purging truths into great lies
A little man with a big eraser, changing history
Procedures that he's programmed to, all he hears and sees
Altering the facts and figures, events and every issue
Make a person disappear, and no one will ever miss you

Rewrites every story, every poem that ever was
Eliminates incompetence, and those who break the laws
Follow the instructions of the New Way's Evil Book of Rules
Replacing rights with wrongs, the files and records in the schools

You said you've got the answers, well who asked you anyway ?
Ever think may be it was meant to be this way ?
Don't try to fool us, we know the worst is yet to come
I believe my kingdom will come

F, is for fighting, R is for red
Ancestors' blood in battles they've shed
E, we elect them, E, we eject them
In the land of the free and the home of the brave
D, for your dying, O, your overture
M, will cover your grave with manure
This spells out FREEDOM, it means nothing to me
As long as there's P.M.R.C

F, is for fighting, R is for red
Ancestors' blood in battles they've shed
E, we elect them, E, we eject them
In the land of the free and the home of the brave
D, for your dying, O, your overture
M, is for money, you know what that cures
This spells out FREEDOM, it means nothing to me
As long as there's P.M.R.C

Put your hand right up my shirt
Pull the strings that make me work
Jaws will part, words fall out
Like a fish with hook in mouth

Rewrites every story, every poem that ever was
Eliminates incompetence, and those who break the laws
Follow the instructions of the New Way's Evil Book of Rules
Replacing rights with wrongs, the files and records in the schools

I'm not a fish
I'm a man
Hook in mouth

I love Mustaine in interviews, always drops memorable quotes. His unfaltering no remorse attitude is admirable. Honest metal, no bullshit self-righteous "the other people made me do it" whining.

I didn't know about Dave Mustaine and Alice Cooper. Makes sense. Hmm... *dreams of collaboration*

Awesome interview, good work!
