Brinstar, you can't possibly win this one. Yes, people can choose not to ride with drunk drivers and they should do that whenever possible. The driver is still responsible for everything he or she does with the car and in this case the driver decided to make a series of horribly bad decisions that directly contributed to the ghastly death of another human being. This is called negligence, and since the negligence involved a motor vehicle the charge is vehicular manslaughter.
Clara, I'm not disagreeing with any of that so I guess I can't lose either. I'm not talking about the laws at all. I'm talking about the personal responsibility involved.
Sue me if I feel more sympathy for a family whose child is killed in a drunk driving incident while driving home from day camp then a guy who gets wasted with his friend and gets in the car with said wasted friend. One is truly innocent, the other was partaking in the guilty activities with his friend. When a couple guys go out and get wasted and drive home wasted I don't really care who is behind the wheel, they are both responsible for the situation.

isn't alcohol a wonderful drug? but don't smoke any pot though...cause it makes you do something crazy...
Crazy like, sit on a couch, play video games, realize your out of munchies, so you and your friends WALK to the gas station around the corner smoking another J on your way through the woods not hurting anyone. I know if I drive stoned I tend to drive like a little old lady unless I have the car on cruise control and I always set the cruise control just under the speed limit, lol...I think things through a lot more stoned than I do sober ha.
Peace,
