when they were last released they advertised them - on vhs - as the last time you'd be able to own the original star wars movies, that was not long before the special editions hit cinemas. he said 'when we said never, we meant it.'

personally, i bought copies from thailand bootlegged off the laserdiscs about 3 years ago, cost me $8 for all three, sure they don't look as good as these new ones will, but they're the real thing

I think the problem with Lucas is he started believing his own hype... and quit worrying about whether his films were any good.

Maybe he needs to be tied up & forced to watch Howard the Duck for 3 weeks straight.
