I say it seems dead, but that's simply an illusion

not dead, just harder to find, sometimes i'm very pleasantly suprised.

I would require more precise definitions of individuality and originality to answer that. Otherwise I could just say that no two people are exactly the same by default, etc.

Today is just a parody of yesterday and tomorrow is a rerun.

Individualtiy is an illusion, its just another form of comformity.

Being an individual has nothing to do with the way you dress or speak but rather how you wear your clothes and express yourself verbally. It has nothing and everything to do with you as a personality and not a person. It's a contradiction because we are all people and we all "fit in" somewhere; but that does not mean that you are not an individual.

to me the thought of being an individual through originality though is jus plain silly

I think that once you get to know them, most people are individuals despite their best efforts to the contrary.

individualism is only valued by the mob during times of crisis...

We are all indivudual, original people.
