What are your thoughts on the value of the extended release variants, prozac weekly, paxil cr, etc. My insurance company considers the above nonformulary and therefore I have a higher out of pocket for them. Are there really any advantaged to the time release? Also I take ativan (lorazapam) to control my violent outbursts. Are there any interaction dangers?

they are considered nonformulary because they are not necessary. following a regular schedule of short release tablets rather than the time release capsules should be fine. unless you are having a difficult time with absorption and/or your blood work is showing irregular results, it probably isn't worth the extra cost. as far as interaction dangers, as long as you are having all of your meds monitored by the same licensed professional, this shouldn't be a concern. also, your pharmacist has a computerized system designed to catch these potential hazards.
