After probably the longest single topic discussion ever, here is probably the best online questionnaire ever.


Here's the deal. One morning you wake up and you find yourself in a zombie attack, a la dawn of the dead.

Write your answers just below the questions. Lets try and keep it standardised!



You have got to get somewhere. Where are you going to go, and why? or maybe stay in your own home?




You are going to take a vehicle with you. What vehicle would you take and for what reason? Or is it a place you could get to on foot?Bear in mind the nearer to home you stay, the more likely it is you'll encounter a zombie friend, and possibly need to cap them right?

I have a bike. Quiet, not reliant on fuel, simple to repair.

One. But bikes are easy to come by.

Backpack, first aid kit, rifle, ammunition, foodstuffs.

I live reasonably near an airport, so I'd make my way there and leave the country for Europe or Iceland

I'd steal a motorbike and get to the airport, then I'd fuel up and steal a helicoptor and fly abroad. The further away I got, the more time I'd have to prepare fully

If it's a Bell JetRanger I could get 4 other people in with me. That would depend on who I was with or met on my way to the airport.

Rucksack, flashlight, portable radio and bottle of water. Anything else I can loot as needed.

Bladed weapons like swords. They aren't going to run out of ammo or attrack other zombies when they're used.

I'd try to contact friends and family while travelling, but I wouldn't go out of my way to contact people. By travelling alone, I don't have to rely on or be responsible for anyone but myself. Once I had a secure base, then maybe I would see who was still about. Country wise, I'd try and head to Europe and into Russia (still flying) as there'd be more chance of finding an abandoned millitary complex or even just head into Siberia, where there's no one about. From there, I could always cross into Alaska. I'd always fly, because that way I can't be trapped or cornered on land, and if I were to crash, chances are I'd either die on impact or get incinerated when the fuel goes up, so no fate worse than death for me

I'd take off to the nearest apartment building, smash in a couple windows, barricade my entrances, and head to the top floor, barricading myself all the way up to prevent the zombie hordes an easy route up.

I wouldn't take a vehicle too far...gas would run out probably long before I can get far enough away to make a difference...i'd probably pop my rollerblades in the trunk, steal a bike and attach it to the roof, and head to my place in the first question...having silent yet decently quick transportation will go far in aiding me continue to set up my roof-top fort.

In the event of me actually having enough time to pick up people without risking my life or theirs, I'd get FreakPirate for his extensive knowledge of zombies, my little sister (cuz i love her too darn much to leave her out there alone), and maybe one more if that person was close by...they'd have to contact me though

Non-perishable food, first aid kit, backpack, hammer+nails, rope (and lots of it) for an emergency escape line

the strongest would get melee weapons...swords or head smashing utensils (maces, spiked clubs, etc), and better co-ordinated people would get pistols or rifles.

I'd try to wait it out, yeah...but only to a certain point. If i couldn't attract the attention of overhead flying rescuers on the top of the apartment building, I'd collect as much water as I could from the filled-up bathtubs that poured into weeks before and make a run for it on my bike/roller blades.

This is difficult...how would I contact them if they were in another country and there being a lack of communication devices? I guess I'd head to the nearest air force base (which would either be Cold Lake or Penhold...) to see if any of them survived.

Hell, I'm staying here! I've got weapons galore and about 2000 rounds of ammo. My balcony can get me to the roof, the roof can get me to the roof of the Food Maxx grocery store on the other side of the property wall. That's food, weapons, mobility, and security.

I'm IN my home! Everything I need is right here, so no need to choose.

More for me. Got my German 98k Mauser 8mm for long range roof work, the Winchester 30-30 lever gun for balcony or on the go work, and the trusty 44mag taurus wheel gun for back up. Plenty of ammo for all is already right here in the closet!

Might as well wait here. Trying to find more people just increases the risk of somebody getting us all killed. Besides, just wait a month or so, the zombie suckers will start to rot soon enough. Then you go from "Night of the living dead" to "Night of the comet".

Hospital in the city. Has a cafeteria, gift shop and several snack machines so food isnt an issue. Has several areas that are able to be completly sealed off from the rest. An entire wing can act as a panic room. Security rooms will have guns, and CCTV monitors. Self-sustained generators and water supply. TVs in every room. Bedding. And (obviously) nigh-limitless medical supplies on hand for everything from splinters to splints. And since its in the city its far away from any cemetaries ; no fresh bodies. Also most city hospitals have helicopters.

I'd jack a Greyhound bus. Hard to tip over. Shatterproof plexiglass windows. Good "armor". Great seating capacity, No worries about leaving too many people behind. Fairly good mileage.No handles on the outside of the doors. Includes a bathroom. Baggage storage could hold supplies or more people. Also doubles as a door barricade a la DotD '78

Seats 55 + 1 driver. I'd bring my entire immedeate family (including myself), and 4 of thier friends (4*4=16). Each of those friends could bring 2 friends and/or family members (16* 2=32) .
4+16+32= 52. The remaining 4 seats would go to any random people we'd come across.

Aw hell, I have 56 people to take care of. Ok. We stop at a Wal-Mart and pick up the following:

56 ginsu knife sets
56 revolvers with ammo
56 shotguns with ammo
56 Ammo belts

Sure, hospitals have dedicated phone lines as well. We could call anywhere to see if anyone is alive. Perhaps other hospitals have survivors as well. Also dedicated phonelines + dedicated seperate generators + computers= net access.

George Carlin. He's smart, level-headed and the we'd need comedy to keep from going insane.

After getting as many supplies as possible, I would either try to secure transport to an island (perhaps even a houseboat or yacht) or any heavily built building that could be fortified after burning down the adjacent buildings(a-la "Omega man" or its's source material, I am Legend) Or perhaps even hole up in the Military armoury about a block from my place

An Island, heavy built buildings, and the military armoury are within a 20 minute walk from where I am right now, but for practicality, I would want a suburban or possibly a Police vehicle. Depending on my location I would modify it as needed if I had a garage.

Vehicle has a lot of storage space, so I'd try and pick up as many other survivors as possible, hopefully as many people with useful doctoring, firearm, and construction/engineering skills.

Fist aid kit (or any medical supplies) Toolbox, batteries or a portable generator, Canned foods, SAS field survival guide

Shotguns and SMG's. Fire would be a good way to kill them, but because getting torched wouldn't have them on the ground screaming in pain until they died, I'd have to rethink the practicality as opposed to some form of pipe bomb with shrapnel. For killing zombies on the perimiter of the base, Something like a bow with Arrows tied to a string (so after you put it through their head you can recover your ammo) Swords or some other bladed weapons would be a must just for when the ineveitable weapon jam happens in a rough spot.

Once the winter hit, I'd imagine the zombies would freeze like the corpses in the videos showing the aftermath of Stalingrad.

If I had a fortified base of operations, I don't know if I would want to risk giving it up for an unknown...

Richard Dean Anderson. He could MacGuyver us up some miracle weapon that would wipe out all the zombies.
