Even though Jude Law and the assholes from E! didn't spare readers of entertainment news the common courtesy of a spoiler warning in their headline, I will attempt to do so for you.

Sir Laurence Olivier died in July of 1989. He played Crassus in Kubrick’s Spartacus, Hamlet, and Zeus in Clash of the Titans. He was nominated for the Oscar eleven times, won for his portrayal of the prince of Denmark, and has been given two other honorary Academy Awards. Now, through the wonder of digital “wizardry”, he will play the villain in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

[Jude] Law, who costars in the film with the living likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie, says playing opposite one of the greatest actors of all time is an honor, even if Sir Laurence has been dead for 15 years.

"He plays my nemesis. And he's referred to throughout the movie, so you know eventually you're going to get to see this bad guy," Law said. "It builds up, and you only see him in the last minutes, and he's in hologram form."

Footage was taken from several of his early films and an actor dubbed the lines.

It’s nice to know that legends of stage and screen will die knowing that their likeness will play the part of some future motion picture where they will fight actors with CGI robots and underwater airplanes.

Yes, but both are pretty fucking repulsive.

Besides which, why? Why do this?

Is this just a gimmick to sell tickets or was there really no LIVING actors who were right for the part?

at least they're using him for a classy role; it's not like he's playing the leader of an evil robot gang or anything whatever

I pushed for a congretional ban of Necromantic advertising and everyone thinks I'm a gibbering loon. Now look what they've gone and done! Soon Hollywood will be completely overrun with zombie actors, and all will be lost. Sure, you all think Johnny Depp is sexy now, but what will you say when he's a hideous, mindless undead death machine.... Though given this crowd, that might be seen as a bonus. Eitherway, it's madness, I tell you, Madness!
