comics points:
1 garfield creator jim davis worked in advertising first. i read an article in which he created garfield to BE bland and innoffensive. so it would sell. and it continues to, dammit.
2 Berkely breathed IS doing a sunday OPUS strip. but (!) its NOWHERE online. i think its in his contract to sue all web hosters. he must be getting a load of cash. bottom line, you get it or you dont.
3: DOONSBURY: is a political strip. its supposed to create controversy. jezus. ive been reading it, and he recently gave lead character DB an amputated limb, like other US soldiars in the iraq war. its been handled respectfully , i think. Theres a good article about this in the latest rolling stone. but as, another poster said, yeah, its being dropped right after he critiscizes rupert murdoch? yeah. the strip has been running for 20 years and NOW its offensive?
