Now I'm sure most people would write this off as crap, but I'm excited for this movie. I loved both the Predator movies. And all the alien movies except alien ressurecdtion, the one with that shoplifter in it. I think its totally cool, especially since they hinted at it in the second predator movie. When Danny Glover stumbled into the Predator space ship he sees like a trophy wall with all these skulls on it, one is a human and the others appear tobe other exotic aliens, but for a second the pan past an Alien skull.
My only complaint is this: myth continuity. I love movies. All movies however cheesy or horrible, I love to go see them in the theater. I'll buy most stories howerever inprobable, becuase I'm will to accept any premise. But about the only thing line I draw in the sand is: CONTINUITY. Usually they are little details that they just don't catch or theyre something retarded. Like I saw that movie called Vampires a couple years ago, and there was some naked chick vampire, but she had tanlines. thats a continuity detail that bugged me. Vampire will never have tanlines. My point is this, the story with the predators is that they always come out in the worst heat. they say this in the first and second movies. So WHY THE FUCK ARE THEY HANGING OUT IN A ANTARCTIC SUBTERANEAN PYRAMID/TEMPLE!!!!

you don't think such a technologically advance race wouldn't have at least a few space heaters around?
And i'm totally psyched for this movie, and I never use that word, "psyched", I read the interview with Paul W. S. Anderson (the director) in the new Fango, and he seems to at least have a good idea on why Predator, Alien, and Aliens were good, and P2, A3, and A:R (on popular belief) sucked, and he tried to apply it to AvP. Hopefully he's got it right. But yeah, this will be one of the rare movies I see in the theaters, and the VERY rare ones i see when it opens.

BTW, i know they'll do some ending where neither race wins, but...who do you want to rule the Earth?
Predators here. They kick.

I heard that the film is a prequel to "Alien," so I would assume that the humans win. I just hope it's scary. And not just scary in the "boo!" sense of scary. I want to be terrified. It seems like that's too much to ask these days. These are the only two movie monsters to ever give me nightmares, but I have a feeling that this film will not contribute to that at all. PLEASE scare the crap out of me!!!!!!!!! I beg you!!!!!!!

according to the movie the predators helped the aztecs build temples for them to use as training grounds for their youths.

if you think that's a big continuity flaw, think of this one:

the aliens vs predator movie plays out in current time, and lance henriksen plays the human charles bishop weyland, founder of the weyland yutani cooperation, in the movie he's quite old and dying.

fast forward several hundred years to the first Alien movie and you got Ash, the first synthetic human ever produced by the weyland yutani company centuries after weylands (lance henriksen's) death.

fast forward another fifty years, ripley goes back to the planet along with some marines and lance henriksen playing the bishop droid named after the founder of the company and looking exactly like a man that's been dead for centuries.
i can understand their first synth looking like the company founder but why some fourth generation synthetic human.

fast forward another year, ripleys escape pod lands on fury 161 and she finds out there's a alien inside of her.
who comes to try and capture her? Lance henriksen as a human claiming he's the guy the bishop droid was modeled after.

including lance henriksen is either one of the weirdest cockups in the history of movie continuity or they have some kind of really bizarre explanation in the avp movie.
i'm guessing the movie will be a fun actionflick considering the trailer looks great but nothing to be taken seriously.

I've been waiting for this since I was twelve years old. I had all the action figures.

In the second predator film, inside of the mother ship there is a collection of skulls, one of those skulls being an Alien's skull.

I think it's going to be fantastic. I saw the trailer and all I could say was "Fuckin' Kick ass!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for this shit for ages!!!!"

you know the alien skull in the predator movie was actually a little inside joke made by stan winston.
stan winston worked on the movie aliens to create the creatures and after the predator movie dark horse made a bunch of aliens vs predator comic books.

having made both creatures stan winston decided during the production of predator 2 to add a alien skull to the trophy case as a little ode to the comics.
the producers weren't too happy with it but they allowed it considering stan winston had free reign over the set design and it was basically his call.
anyway the skull was only there as a nod to the comics not part of the storyline.
they do that kind of thing a lot in movies, usually it's more subtle though, one of my favourites is in the crappy horror movie bats where the movie theatre in the town that's being attacked has a sign outside saying they're running the classic movie Nosferatu that night.

The Temple is a proving grounds for teen/college age Predators. They breed Aliens there. Once, Mayan/Aztec "ruins" were the proving grounds.

I shit you not.

PS, the Predators win. Sorta. Both sides die out, but the last survivor is the Predator leader, who helps the human chick kick the Alien Queen's ass. Then, he dies in her arms. Awwww. "Creepy" last shot of the movie:the Predator being "laid to rest" in the Predator's space ship, when suddenly his chest starts bulging....

Sorry. It's fact. Read the dozen or so reviews from test screenings, skim over the last pages of the book.

The predators are a race of warriors, all they seam to be concerned with is battle and the persuit of victory. They dont seam to be the sort to conquer worlds in the literal sense. If that were the case, they would have done it long ago. Remember in the second film, the "Captain of the Ship" threw an old six shooter at dany glover after he defeated one of the predators? Yep the gun had a date on it. Seventeen or sixteen some odd. ALSO,

SnottleBocket said:

Looks as if the Predators have been to earth more than a few times and never attempted to establish rulership.

The predators could wipe us out and rule the earth, if need be.... but would'nt due so, due to some sort of honor system... or maybe even because they would want to come back in the future and battle again. Although they obviously do have the technology to do so as a race in attempts to be the ultimate warriors. They seam to have the Aliens under controle, also. They seam to adapt to situations very easyly. They are solitary in nature. In both of the predator films, there is only one predator taking on a a mass of humans... Seams to me as if they are looking to prove something to themselvs and their companions, braging rites, per se.... as opposed to utter anihilation of an entire race.... So, the predators are ruled out as possible rulers of the earth......

HOWEVER, the Aliens, on the other hand, infest worlds, like insects. In the film, the world that Ripley goes to is infested with Aliens. The Aliens seam to do this instinctually. It is in their nature. The aliens have the ability to implant eggs into other races, via Face-Hugger. Humans are subseptable to this, where as predators wear funky masks and if the mask is removed, they have lots of teeth..... Both humans and predators are both subseptable to acidic visera and saliva as well as brute force.... aliens also learn and adapt.... it is totally possible for the aliens to conquer a world....

Humans can defeat other races... and we would conquer worlds if given the chance. hey, Hitler attempted to conquer the world and kill off an entire race.... We have bombs and guns and ffffffffflame throwers, human enginuity and intellectual adaptability...... we have already conquered the earth.

Ripley destroyed aliens, yet aliens destroyed her crew. The govenator Arnold destroyed the a predator, yet the predator killed his platoon. Dany glover killed a predator, yet the predator fucked shit up in the city....

Humans kill predators and aliens

Aliens kill humans and predators

Predators kill everything including humans and aliens...

Aliens are paracites.

Predators are........ well... they're predators...

and humans...... well, we're just fuckin' crazy...

There is a possibility of worldy infestation and anihilation of the human race by the aliens, and a possibility that the human characters, but not the entire Human race, gets anihilated by the predators, and a possibility that the human race anihilates both the aliens and the predators, but not the entire race of predators.. and I'm sure there are aliens somewhere else out in space infesting other worlds...

It is a close call......

I've thought about this for years, me and my friends used to sit around for hours and talk about this sort of thing. ahhh the memories.... We used to play with the action figures (we had them all, both alien figures and predator figure and the aliens vs. predator figures as well) in miniature tree forts and stations on the ground that we built. We had zip-lines and platforms, tree-top battles and fortress battles....... man..... that shit was fun. We had countless wars between the human race, the predators and the aliens.... we went over every scenario.... I naturally vote fot the human race when it comes to rulership of the earth... it was always my favorite scenerio, ~the human race avoids the alien infestation and conquers the predators.... but the predators always come back... and sometimes they bring the aliens with them. and it happens all over again.~

I feel like a kid again..... this movie is going to kick ass!!!!!!

have you ever thought about it that the aliens aren't just animals at all?
a lot of people including me think they're actually some kind of bio weapon created by the space jockeys.
the planet ripley went to in alien 1 wasn't overrun by aliens at all, there was a crashed space ship crewed by a spacejockey with a cargo bay full of eggs secured by a stasis field.
only reason a egg hatched was because kane fell through the stasis field putting him inside with the eggs.

in the second movie ripley goes back to the same planet and it's not just over run, two colonists went inside the crashed spacejockey ship and they brought a infected man into the colony. (you can see the scene of the 2 colonists finding the spacejockey ship in the special edition of aliens)

if you look at the material of the alienhive in aliens and alien resurrection you'll also see that it really resembles the material in the spacejockey spaceship.
i think the spacejockey race somehow bio engineers a lot of stuff, their ship doesn't look mechanical at all, it looks more like it was grown.
they also had a cargo bay full of aliens that can produce hive nests looking very similar to other materials spacejockeys use.
in short i think the aliens are a bioweapon that the spacejockeys created and in the end it destroyed them, leaving a ship full of alien eggs on LV-421 for ripley to find.

the universe isn't full of alien infested worlds, every single alien we've seen so far is either from the crashed ship on LV-421 or purposefully placed by the predators in the avp movie.

That makes more than enough sense. Boilogical weapons geneticly enineered.... And you're right, the spacejockey ship does look very organic.... what can i say... I think you're absolutely right in your notions... and no... I never thought of that... biggrin shit... i envy your thoughts and I wish i had thought of that myself......

I was reading some excerpt of a Predator vs. Alien book that came out a couple years ago, and it was describing how predators are very class oriented. you had these youngsters who have never hunted, first bloods and teachers. this head predator was on a space ship going to some planet and they had a captured alien queen in the hold of the ship that was some how restrained, and they were just collecting eggs and storing them. It was all to train these youngster predators. Predators were a proud warrior/hunter race and they collected the skulls of their best opponents. The wouldn't keep a skull of someone they felt was unworthy, and wouldn't even fight someone they KNEW they could beat. So, them taking over worlds isn't their style, theyre into one on one fighting and since they probably know they could destroy a majority of humans they wouldn't do it. They called the "oomans" soft meat, but that they were smart and had "sharp stings", they thought the aliens, or hard meat as they called them, were basically like dogs except for the queens, but they were very fierce.

If you want to use the previously done Aliens Vs Predator comic books as a sort of source material (and even the predator comics individually, the Aliens ones don't work as well because of what was established in them pre-Alien 3, and then what alien 3 ended up doing franchise wise)

The Predators use Aliens as a rite of initiation for their young hunter castes. They go in with limited weaponry, because theres no challenge in sniping them from a mile away. Every once and a while their system for distributing the eggs on planets lets a queen egg through, and because of it, the planet often ends up overrun with aliens, more than the new hunters are prepared to deal with, espescially with limited weapons. The predator leaders compete in unarmed combat for the choice of a planet to take their initiate party to. (the Predators have gone to colder climes, as the Big game series showed- it took place in Siberia) Predators do use heavy armour and weapons on planets that are overrun that they need to cull, or when they need to capture a new queen.

The Aliens were used as a bio-weapon by the space jockey's race in the same sense as the Weyland-Yutani corporation wanted to. The reason that LV-421 wasn't infested, was because there were not any native life forms for the aliens to infact.
