Ok, I've just seen secret window, and the end kinda puzzles me. I get that he is crazy and that Shooter is a figment of his imagination, but what is the deal with the end where he has braces and creeps everybody in town out? I don't understand why he changed into the guy with braces. That and the wierd mouth tick he has, what did that have to do with anything? There are so many loose ends that didn't get tied up. Maybe someone out there has seen it and can explain them to me?
Why did the house crack in half? Why did he kill things in the first place? Whats the deal with the corn cobs? Why did the post office girl suddenly think he was wierd after the scene prior where she was trying to flirt with him? Why did he cut out the pages from the magazine?
Also, I've heard that the books' ending is different than the movies'. If anyone has read the story I'd love to know the way the endings differ.
ok after teh whole killing thing we'll start with the braces adn appearance, notice his physical appearance has changed from a somewhat depressed slobe to a more happy preppy atire. the braces and jaw twitch, well depending on how much attention you paid to details earlier in teh movie, his teeth were a lil crooked, and he kept grinding them. the reason why the post girl and everyone else in town was freaked out about him was becuase 4 people he knew disappeared with out a trace and he kept talking about someone no body but him has ever seen.. the reason he killed people HELLO McFly he was crazy!!, but what drove him crazy was the fact he caught his wife cheating on him. the deal with the corncobs has to do with the last few lines from the story Shooter Claimed to be his. the reason he cut the pages out of the magazine? i dont know but i'll venture a guess, i think it had something to do with his mind not coming to terms with thefacthe is nutz, and tried to cover up or force himself to relize he is shooter. if you have teh DVD watch the deleted scenes and they'll provide more info on the corn, plus there is a few inerviews that will answer your questions a bit better. another thing about the corncobs that you'll see in the deleted alternate scenes is the fact the opriginal title of teh movie and story was secret window secret garden. i hope i have been somewhat useful and forgive me for not using paragraphs or punctuations when i should
The King ending was different too. It was more of a happy ending, where the good guys (not the main character, he killed a bunch of people) win. In the movie, Johnny D wins, and he's the real bad guy. That goes to show how ofter Kings novels are changed right at the end. Another example is Dreamcatcher. What a tragedy that was.
