That was in another book. I remember this, because the girl's name was Jenny and her boyfriend (who eventually married her, and had always pestered her about the ribbon) was Alfred. He was the one who untied the ribbon!
I remember this because my best friend growing up was a girl named Jenny, and we always used to read the story together and giggle at the last line: "And Jenny's head fell off".
Wow, that was a long post.
I had to go looking for the book on amazon, and I found the one I was referring to. It was the same author. It's In a Dark, Dark Room and other Scary Stories.
