i have to defend club monaco. even though we're talking about men's clothing, and i know nothing about them, i really like club monaco! i have a lot of clothing from there. and i am sad that i have moved to a city without one.

is it true, what they say einstein did, about buying 7 of the same contemporary, stylish outfit, so that instead of worrying about what he was gonna wear each day he'd be free to take on other concerns?

now, i'm no einstein, but that's a damn good idea: plain black pocket tee, jeans, sneakers. no labels. judge me for me instead of the clothes i'm wearing.

if the clothes make the man, then who makes the clothes? poor people? it's all hogwash, fashion in general. for every hip guy wearing kenneth cole, there's some dumbass with flaming iron crosses on his shirt.

no offense, flamin' shirt guys.

I'd like to help, but most of the places I do my shopping are hole-in-the-wall NYC shops with "fallen off the truck" designer clothes.

We must go shopping for "hot" shirts whenever I get my ass to NYC.

thrift stores, vinatge stores, etc. and a good tailor. emphasis on the tailor. a good fit goes a long way.

nice shoes.

I concur on the tailor bit. I tend to buy cheapish clothes and then get the fit altered to my liking by one of my mum's best friends, who is a damned good tailor!

Ditto, old stuff is usually better made and will last longer even if preworn. Buy things that almost fit you and then take them to the tailor. Magic! Custom clothes for less than new stuff that doesn't fit as well. smile
