"I'm sorry, you see, the waiter must've dropped some stupid pills into my drink, hence my behavior."

I actually did apologize. Several times.
I'm writing her a letter since written words always seem to carry more weight.
But where am i going to find flowers when everything is closed on the fourth of july?

Don't you have superstores with flower departments that are open practically 24/7/365? Granted, they are not the greatest quality, but they may suffice.

There are rules in marriage and you crossed the next to worse one to cross. The worst rule ever to break is of course the one where you fuck her/his dead grandmother. GOOD LUCK smile

What happened to the days when husbands were expected to hate their mother-in-laws?

Don't apologize. Just look at this incident as the first step towards the following decades of mutual hatred.

In fact, yell at your mother-in-law again for making you feel bad about the first yelling.

I think you can safely realize that there's no point in worrying about stuff being closed this holiday weekend once you've fully understood that you're likely to pay for this mistake for years to come.

Good luck.

Indeed. Hopefully you're not married and the relationship will eventually crumble and you'll no longer be left in this situation.

And a friendly warning - under no circumstances try to justify to the family that what you did was ok, or god forbid, justified.

Ditto.

If she deserved it she deserved it. No since worrying about it the past is the past.

well...seeing as you are already in the doghouse, this is an opportune time to let her know how you really feel about anything else thats been bothering you.

more important than your MIL being upset at you, is your wife?

Actually, my wife isn't angry at me at all. She wishes I hadn't acted the ass, but she was just as bothered by the same thing that made me yell at her. Even so, this will make the rest of the weekend particularly hellish, since they are here visiting, although staying with her aunt. And I really don't want to become a wedge and an issue between my wife and herm other.

Don't worry, you still didn't fuck up as bad as that SG member who posted a picture of his wife (also an SG member) in a thread and encouraged people to go to her journal and post how hot she is.
