it prevents the semi-fertilized egg from attaching to the uteran lining (by forcing menstruation - goodbye lining) where it later develops into a fetus

As I understand it, the morning after pill is not a means of aborting a fetus, not in ANY way.

I could be wrong though, but like I said, that's as I understand it.

although not technically a fetus, many people still see the fertilized egg as "life" - and the new conservative slang for morning after pills is "chemical abortion"

also if you take the morning after pill while you are already pregnant you will mostly likely "kill" or damage any embryo or fetus in you

you would need to take the pill w/in 72 hours to be most effective.... so ditch pregnancy tests... still your odds are low, but do you want to play the game at all?

Go to any pharmacy like walgreens or Longs and they will have it readily available.....just to warn your mate.....she's gonna be out of commision for a whole day.....basically it will knock her out and make her really nauseas.....but so worth it if you don't want little Ali's running around tongue hope it all works out! Also it's gonna cost about 35 bucks and they don't take some insurance cards.....

Rock. Thanks for the clarification.

It's funny though, because to me it seems like it's no more a form of abortion than having your tonsils out. But yeah, again, that's just me.

OK, I have a friend that worked at Planned Parenthood. And the above is a common misconception. The morning after pill is NOT an abortion. It simply blocks the egg from being fertilized. Which is why it needs to be taken within the first 72 hours. The "abortion pill" is something completely different. Furthermore, the morning after pill will not cause an abortion in a woman should the egg already be fertilized.

yep, my bust sorry for any confusuion

the abortion pill is RU-486 (12 weeks)
dissolves the uterus, forced menstruation

"morning after" is Preven / Plan B (72 hours)
Emergency contraception works by preventing the ovary from releasing an egg or by preventing the male's sperm from fertilizing the egg. The pills are already available without a prescription in several European countries, and five states -- California, Hawaii, Washington, New Mexico, and Alaska -- currently allow pharmacists to dispense them without a doctor's approval.

my advice is first of all find out for sure whether or not she's pregnant in a few weeks. If she is then the two of you need to discuss what you want to do. Its a very high possibility that she is not pregnant though.

That's not necessarily bad advice, but if she does not wish to be pregnant and takes EC within 72 hours of the condom breakage the odds of her becoming pregnant are reduced by something like 75%. That would mean that she can take a few pills and be nauseated for a few days rather than having to get an extremely expensive and more risky abortion in a month or two.

fun two weeks, its always in the back of your mind. especially if your mind is relatively empty like mine.

but you should be good with the morning after pill, i wish we would have done that, save some stress. nothing is 100% though, and thats what still kept me a bit worried
