The S.E. Hinton classic, The Outsiders, will be remade. Star Search Casting (via IGN Filmforce) has posted a casting call for various people to star in a remake that tells the story with some, um, minor changes.

Remake of "The Outsiders" only not from a 1963 point of view, but more of a hip-hop colored view for youth.
Currently Seeking:
PONY BOY: Age 14, American Indian, long hair, dark eyes, well built, slender.
TWO-BIT MATTHEWS: Age 15, American Indian, well built, long hair, 6'0" slender
DALLAS WINSTON: Age 16, caucasian, elfish face with pointed chin, blonde, tough appearance 5'9"
JOHNNY CADE: Age 15, caucasian, 5'5", slight build, dark eyes
SODAPOP: Age 16, Am. Indian, slim, well built, dark hair
CHERRY VALANCE: Age 16, cheerleader, long hair, 5'5", medium build
MARCIA: Age 16 5'5", friend of Cherry Valance
DARRY: Age 20, caucasian, muscular build, broad shoulders, 6'2"
STEVE RANDLE: Age 17, caucasian, 6'0", Am. Indian, muscular
BOB: Age 18, caucasian, slim, brown hair
RANDY: Age 18, caucasian, blonde, well built

"Hip-hop colored"? What...the...fuck...

Yes, nothing screams hip-hop like a native American named Sodapop.

Also, good luck finding a muscular caucasian American Indian to play Steve.

If you don't want to support it, don't see it. This isn't hard, people. It, like many other things in life, can be ignored.

Yeah that was what I was thinking as well

But, the hip-hop thing makes sense; hip-hop is EXTREMLY big in reservations right now. There are even music videos of native americans/indians (depends on who you ask, which label is better) rapping and doing the hip hop wink

( frown the Garfield movie made me cry; damn you shelter scenes!)

I just got back from Hollywood where I pitched the idea for a remake of Rear Window starring Johnny Knoxville as LB Jeffries and Hillary Duff as Lisa Carol Fremont. Thelma Ritter's role will be played by a sassy CG dog featuring the voice of Aaron Carter.

Hoping for a Christmas release.

uh...am I the only one that thought the original film was pretty lame too?

But I am a little disappointed about the thunderbirds thing...I mean, the original wasn't live action, so what is to be gained from a live action version...why not computer animation...then again, I suppose most of it will be huh?

hollywood is high.

It' gets worse; imagine----

the "hip-hop" way whatever

---because several of my fim teachers with connections in hollywood say they been working on getting the project together for several years now.
