After a few rumors of what the new title may be (The pillar of Storge? What's a storge?!), Harry Potter fans were finally treated to the 6th title of the Harry Potter series.

J.K. Rowling, author of the series, announced today that the title for the 6th book would be "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince."

Some fans found this out a few days ago, on J.K. RowlingÂ’s http://www.jkrowling.com by finally gaining access to the locked door (A certain page on her flash site contains a door which has been inaccessible to everyone until now).

Unfortunately, there is still no release date for book 6, but you can finally get book 5 (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) in paperback in the U.S. starting August 10th.

There is no word from Rowling yet as to who the half blood prince may be. On CNN.com she did state the following:

She seemed to confirm the Half Blood Prince title on the Daily News page by adding, "The HBP is neither Harry nor Voldemort," she wrote. Lord Voldemort is the series' villain.

Hardcore Potter fans will have to keep their eyes out for more hints from Ms. Rowling!

If you can find the transcripts of the bootleg (fake) Chinese HP sequels, they're pretty hysterical.

I believe the seventh one revealed that Gandalf was Harry's uncle.

Dig for it!

I'm voting for "Harry Potter and If You Think This Title Is Exorbitantly Long, Don't Even Bother Opening the Book."

The whole point of the Malfoys is that they're snobby purebloods. Pureblood Lucius Malfoy married pureblood Narcissa Black and had Draco. So he couldn't really be the Half-Blood Prince, could he?

I'm guessing the Half-Blood Prince will be a character we haven't seen yet (or at least haven't seen much of).

One more thought: It could be Hagrid. He's a half-blooded giant.

Hagrid is my first thought as well, but does Hermoine have a brother? Plus I'm sure there are plenty of mudbloods we don't know of. surreal

God, no kidding. I've read all of the Harry Potter books and enjoyed them, but I liked them more when I could pick them up and finish them in one day. They were more fun that way. The last one took me a day and a half, left me with a headache and bored me to tears. mad I don't understand why they have to keep getting longer and longer. It's great that she's gotten kids interested in reading, but it makes me wonder how many kids lost interest when GOF came out.

I think I have some kind of affliction that makes me sick of things that everyone talks about relentlessly. I don't even have to try, it comes in automatically. Sometimes I used to be ok about these things or even like them. Maybe they should name a phobia after me/that smile

Fortunately, it's not how much hype/exposure/talk something gets that makes me sick of it, it's the amount of exposure I have to that talk. For instance, the LOTR is fine because my friends don't talk about it. Harry Potter is not because everyone I know can't shut up about it biggrin

Awkwardly enough, some things seem immune to this weird pattern; Ie. Irak. They talk and talk about it, and it doesn't bother me that they do, and I also still find it interesting. Maybe serious things aren't affected.

... or maybe I'm just crazy ooo aaa

But c'mon, wouldn't Draco as a mudblood be the ironic plot-twist we've all been waiting for?
I bet there'll be a whole chapter devoted to Narcissa's steamy, illicit, one-night affair with Harry's uncle or something wink

Anyway, I'll be reading it when it comes out, naysayers or no.

I think it's funny how even children's books can get slighted for becoming too comercial by the hipsters... smile

Whoa. Some strong words here for a thread about a children's book. Calm down kids. wink

Different strokes for different folks.

I've never gotten into Harry Potter, myself. But I have friends that say I should try reading the books, as they think I would like them a lot.
