It's on TNT right now for those of you who want to watch it. It's not so bad so far.

I seen a billboard today advertising it. Then on the other side of the road was a billboard about Jesus. Hmmmm. Competition?

For clarification...the first one was also a mini-series, and I believe it was a two-parter. It pretty much sucked. Many people have seen the trimmed down "movie-length version" on tape and think of it as a 90 minute movie. Which sucked even more, since it was so chopped up.

Having watched the first part tonight, this one's not too bad. Better than the original version. Effects are good. Not overused. And the modifications to adapt it to the 2000s worked fine for me. Plus...how can you go wrong with Donald Sutherland AND Rutger Hauer as the bad guy duo? Please.

Eh, not quite what I was expecting. Still debating whether or not I want to catch the second part tomorrow night. They'll probably be airing it all week.

I saw both parts. It was pretty good for a TV horror flick.

The original one with Starsky and James Mason scared the crap out of me, especially cuz' they had the purple faced monster in it.

Overall I thought the TNT version was decent.....its had some good creepness involved also.....good cast and good special effects for a tv movie.
Ps Samatha Mathis is hot, glad to see her acting again wink

I must have missing something, because I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention towards the very end, but...

How did the writer fellow get his ass kicked so hard? He's just in a hospital, with the shit kicked out of him. I don't recall seeing him get beaten.

I liked it. Both parts. The first part was tighter, but the second part was cool, too. And I hate vampires in general.

Babbling Anecdote: We love our Stephan King 'round these parts. He sort of functions as Bangor's eccentric uncle-celeb-- a colorful character, very interesting, and generous with the presents. He gives very generously to local public schools, which have rather tight budgets, and frequently go without. Because of him, many Maine children and teenagers have been able to acquaint themselves with newer technology, learn from up-to-date texts, or join a sports team that wasn't otherwise available in their area (track, for instance). Occasionally he gives his time to UMaine (his alma mattar), and delivers a lecture, or a speech. He also donated all of his original transcripts to the UMaine library. He is frequently seen out and about, concerts, hockey games, baseball games, fairs, whatever. He's a very cool guy.

He writes Maine very well. The town he describes as Salem's Lot could be any small town in Maine: very true to the geography and residents. I suppose that the realism of his novels are what ultimately makes them terrifying...
