I'm lost
April 2003

JUN 20, 2004 02:11 PM

Is on TNT tonight. Anyone plan on watching it?

It's one of the only King books that I haven't read, so I am not sure what it's about. I think I might watch it. But his books are usually a lot better than the made for TV movies.

Blade is an pretty good movie. You should check it out when you have time.

Yeah. When I see another commercial for it I will post who is all in this new one.

Oh it's on right now. Donald Sutherland, Rob Lowe, Andre Brower(SP?) and some other people I have never heard of.

We'll probably watch it. Salem's Lot was the first Stephen King book I ever read, so I doubt it will live up to that experience.

This is my dad's favorite vampire movie - I should buy him the dvd since we were bitching about movies that you only see but have commercials which ruins it.

I liked the book so much more. The movie bored the heck out of me.

I have seen the original movie. It didn't quite measure up to the book. I can't imagine this one will.

Why do they bother making a tv movie when there is already a theatrical version?

On its own, I thought the original Salem's Lot film was pretty good. Of course, films based on books will almost never "live up" to the book, because the media are so disparate. Given how much goes on, internally, with characters in Stephen King novels, you can't translate it all to the external.

Tom Wilkinson, too, I think is in that. He was the dad in In the Bedroom.

I might scope it.

I like how TNT has been playing horror and thrillers all weekend to psyche their viewing audience up for Salem's Lot. They've played Carrie twice, The Others, House on Haunted Hill, and The Devil's Advocate.

The new version of The Shining made me want to cry. Even though it stuck to the original story more (since it was directed by King), Kubrick's version was so much better. I think that King was kind of bound by legalities or something, though. At least, that's what I vaguely remember reading before the movie came out.

Anyway, I think I might have to check this out. Salem's Lot was one of my favorite King novels, too.

bored me silly. go 'near dark'. maltin loved salem's lot and hated the hunger. go figger.

vampire movies have their own scale - a 'great' vampire movie is rarely a great movie.
