I just got this idea while i was ranting about how much M. Night Shamalym (sp?) sucks and how i think he is WAY over rated....

So what film directors do you think are way overrated and suggest someone who is very under rated just for the fun of it.

i denounce M Night Shamalamadingdong.
AND
i nominate Jon Faverau

The Wachowski Brothers - Did you really have the whole trilogy plotted before you made the first one? Really? No, I didn't think so.. And Bound was average. Overrated
Oliver Stone - Yawn. Overrated

Vincenzo Natali - Cube and Cypher under his belt, where's the fat paycheck? Underrated
Terry Gilliam - In the business since the 70s and still not trusted to bring home the bacon... way underrated.

Swingers IS great

...but then so is Unbreakable....and the sixth sense. Don't shame it just because it leapt from the indie track and became a mainstream hit.

You can't think of an overrated one, either.

i second the wachowskis. the first matrix movie is so overrated in of itself.

as for underrated, although he is given credit, hes not given enough. bryan singer has quietly become one of the best directors in hollywood.

The matrix movies just piss me off and in turn the Wachowski's piss me off with their "we had it all planned from the beginning"-George Lucas-esque B.S.

i also think Oliver Stone is horribly overrated.

Michael Bay, hands down.

"Ok....so cue explosion!"
"But Mr. Bay, so far all we've shot is 13 hours of explosion footage. What about dialogue?"
"Oh you're right...here, have one of the characters say 'That's whack!' and then let him be blown up by a grenade." mad mad mad

I was just saying that a couple of hours ago while sitting through the trailer for his latest crappy film. His producers need to fill him in on two little tips:

1. The color red does not equal deep subtext

2. Whispering is not intense.

The Village is actually just a village in our time that is hidden in some deep ass forest. The monsters are construction workers and the machines they drive and they're chopping down the forest. The red is spraypaint meaning they're going to cut down the houses.

Or something stupid like that.

David Fincher is overrated. Nothing but passive postmodernism

I hated Virgin Suicides. Lost in Translation was pretty good

"Okay, so for my next marrow-chilling thriller I'd really like to delve into the spine-tingling HORRORS of mass deforestation. It'll be a roller coaster of suspense and thrills and oh god help me I am going insane."
